My dad has a HP Pavillion 2960. He had a virus that was infecting his \WINDOWS files. He reinstalled XP over it to repair his system. When he was done, it would not get past the F7 crash boot prompt (Safe Mode / Normal). Please help!!!

I would have done a complete reinstall and not a repair.

Was the repair done with a MS XP CD...or by using an HP recovery partition or set of disks?

If XP CD...was it the same version (Home for Home, Pro for Pro) as the O/S installed previously on the computer?

We figured it out by using some virtual PE live disks.
