I've got an Acer 9410Z that wont' start. When I press the power button, the HDD light comes on for a few seconds then goes out. At the same time, the fan will start, then it stops. The power button stays lit, the battery and power indicator on the front panel also are lit appropriately. I've tried the reset procedure available at acer.com where I disconnect the power supply and remove the battery, press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds and then plug it back in. nothing happens there

I've also removed and reseated the hard drive as well as the memory.

I can, however, sometimes here what sounds like a loose screw or somethign inside the caase whenever I change the laptops orientation, although I'm not certain where somethign like that would hve come from. I'm thinking I'm looking at mobo replaement if that's what it is since a loose screw is eventually going to short somethign out.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Something rattling around in it does not sound good. Have you dropped it? If it were me, I'd take it apart and look. I don't know if you are up to that or not

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
