I have a new Lenovo desktop with Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 process 3MB RAM 32 bit OS with Vista Home premium.

I have a Lexmark X1110 ink jet printer connected directly to the desk top and it works fine. When I try to connect a printer on my network sitting on another computer (HP1022 Laser) it finds the printer in the search when I try to connect I get "Windows cannot connect to the printer. The local print spooler service is not running. Please restart the spooler or restart the machine.". Since I do not know about restarting the print spooler I restart the machine when I do that and try again the same error shows up.

Any guidance wopuld be appreicated. Thx

Hi ROMO. Welcome to BleepingComputer.

Click START, and in the search window type in, services and then press enter. Scroll down to the P's and see what is opposite Print Spooler. Double click on it and, if necessary, change the start type to Automatic. Click Apply/OK etc to back out of there. Reboot, and the service should now be running.

Cheers

That's my lot I'm afraid, but tell us about your network and others should have some ideas.

 please see the post about 10 lines down with the following heading
"Fixing Spool32.exe Error Causing Printer Malfunction"

I issued the regedit, I loaded the Vista driver on my local machine and then re-added the printer

I did this on my 3 systems, and all the problems were all fixed up
