hi and thanxx
well last month i got the antivirus xp 2008....i thought i had gotten rid of it but i guess theres still some traces of it. i downloaded malware, spybot search and destroy, and superantispyware, but im still having problems. see lately i've been getting those voice popups that say congratulations u've won a ninetendo or a wal-mart gift certificate, the thing is there is no popup just the voice. im also having problems chatting in my yahoo messenger...someone sent me a music file so i dont know if that why its not letting me chat...seems like eversince i downloaded that file my messenger havent been working properly. when i want to reply to an offline message or any message my friendlist keeps popping up, then i'll have to click back on it to continue, then the friendlist will pop back up ( its hard to explain)

If you have to sneak and do it, Then you dont need to do it!

hi.

One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan.

This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and download and execute files.

I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.

Though the trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. Please read these for more information:

How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud?
When Should I Format, How Should I Reinstall

We can still clean this machine but I can't guarantee that it will be 100% secure afterwards. Let me know what you decide to do.

If you wish to continue. PLease do the following:
  • I also notice that you do not seem to be running antivirus software. This is somewhat suicidal in today's digital world.
That's why I want you to install them first!!

Avira OR Avast are good FREE antivirus.
Never install more than one antivirusscanner on your system! Several together can give problems and decrease the reliability of it seriously!

Perform a full scan with your antivirus to get rid of the leftovers.

  • Please show hidden files and folders. Please visit HERE if you don't know how.
    • Please go to Posted Image
    • Copy and paste the following file path into the "Suspicious files to scan"box on the top of the page:
      • C:\WINDOWS\system32\11wNuaFX.exe
    • Click on the Upload button. You can upload only one file per entry
    • Once the Scan is completed, click on the "Copy to Clipboard" button. This will copy the link of the report into the Clipboard.
    • Paste the contents of the Clipboard in your next reply. Post all four results
If VirScan.org server is too busy, please submit the file to VirusTotal instead.

  • Run HijackThis icon in your desktop by double-clicking it.
Then do press "Do a System Scan Only".

When the scan is complete place a check mark next to the following entries:
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchAssistant = http://search.bearshare.com/sidebar.html?src=ssb
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://search.bearshare.com/sidebar.html?src=ssb
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://search.bearshare.com/sidebar.html?src=ssb
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://search.bearshare.com/sidebar.html?src=ssb
    08 - Extra context menu item: &Search - ?p=ZJxdm090YYUS
    O20 - AppInit_DLLs: C:\WINDOWS\system32\wowfx.dll

Optional fix: If you don't recognize this site. Please put check mark before the entry.
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Window Title = Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by AcademicPlanet.com
    O9 - Extra button: PageMagic - {0D4D9B4B-4142-4D0B-AD06-E1014C75E67B} - http://www.academicplanet.com/pagebuilder.asp (file missing) (HKCU)

    O14 - IERESET.INF: START_PAGE_URL=http://www.academicplanet.com

After checking these items CLOSE ALL open windows EXCEPT HijackThis and click "Fix Checked."

  • Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.
    • Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
    • Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
    • When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
    • When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
      • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
      • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Then click Finish.
    • MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
    • On the Scanner tab:
      • Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
      • Then click on the Scan button.
    • If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
    • The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
    • When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
    • Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
    • Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
    • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
    • When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.
    • The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
    • Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.
Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you may be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. Regardless if prompted to restart the computer or not, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware. MBAM may make changes to your registry as part of its disinfection routine. If you're using other security programs that detect registry changes, they may alert you after scanning with MBAM. Please permit the program to allow the changes.

  • Please print out and follow these instructions: "How to use SDFix". <- This program is for Windows 2000/XP ONLY.
When using this tool, you must use the Administrator's account or an account with "Administrative rights"
    • Disconnect from the Internet and temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any real time protection programs before performing a scan.
    • When done, the SDFix report log will open in notepad and automatically be saved in the SDFix folder as Report.txt.
    • If SDFix is unable to run after rebooting from Safe Mode, run SDFix in either Mode, and type F, then press Enter for it to finish the final stage and produce the report.
    • Please copy and paste the contents of Report.txt in your next reply.
    • Be sure to renable you anti-virus and and other security programs before connecting to the Internet.
-- If the computer has been infected with the VirusAlert! malware warning from the clock and the Start Menu icons or drives are not visible, open the SDFix folder, right-click on either the XP_VirusAlert_Repair.inf or W2K VirusAlert_Repair.inf (depending on your version of Windows) and select Install from the Context menu. Then reboot to apply the changes.

    • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
    • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
    • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
    • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<info.txt (<
Please post the MBAM log, Virscan result, SDfix's report.txt and RSIT's log.txt and info.txt. Do not attach them

Just leave it for now.

Please carry on with the other instructions. We'll deal with it later.

And post all the log I ask.

Thanks.

Mark
