I've been having popups while I'm not doing anything online, they've been from http://www.inqwire.com/, http://z1.adserver.com, http://adopt.hbmediapro.com/,
http://www.loadingwebsite.com/, http://www.ascentive.com/, http://www.partypoker.com/. My computer has restarted itself 5 times without any apparent reason. Ezula installed itself once. A box called Aurora has popped up a few times. I've run Norton AntiVirus, Ad-aware, spybot - search and destroy, eTrust PestPatrol, Spyware Doctor, and the pandasoftware.com online scan. Spyware keeps finding what it calls SahAgent (from the shopathome website)

I've run everything in safe mode, and it can never get rid of them even after trying to delete on startup. Opening my computer back into normal mode has made it even worse.

Hi and welcome to Bleeping.

You have a relatively new infection here so bare with us if we don't shift it first time.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite from here.

Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Please do NOT run a scan yet.

Copy the following bold blue text to notepad.
Save the file to the desktop as remove.bat.
Ensure the "Save as type" field says *All files*.

@ECHO OFF
cd %windir%
Nail.exe /FULLREMOVE
sc config SvcProc start= disabled
sc stop SvcProc
sc delete SvcProc
attrib -s -r -h nail.exe
attrib -s -r -h svcproc.exe
del nail.exe
del svcproc.exe
cd %windir%\system32
attrib -s -r -h DrPMon.dll
del DrPMon.dll
exit

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see here.

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on remove.bat.
A window should open and close very quickly (this is normal).

Then please run Ewido security suite, and perform a full scan.
Remove anything found, and save the logfile from the scan, I'll ask you to post it here for me later.

Run HijackThis again and place a check before the following entry (if they still exist):

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {85d1f590-48f4-11d9-9669-0800200c9a66} - %windir%\bdoscandel.exe (file missing)

O16 - DPF: {41F17733-B041-4099-A042-B518BB6A408C} -

O16 - DPF: {FA3662C3-B8E8-11D6-A667-0010B556D978} -
O18 - Filter: text/html - (no CLSID) - (no file)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: Run Once - C:\WINDOWS\system32\m6po0g73e6.dll

Close ALL OPEN WINDOWS except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

Restart your computer in normal mode and post a fresh HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

Okay, I had an issue. I clicked to save a report and the program shutdown. I went into the quarantine list and did a few print screens then pieced it together. Unfortunately I can't read the print screen even when magnifying it. Looks like we still have some work to do.

Download FindIt's.zip from here to your desktop.
Unzip/extract the files inside to a new folder on your C:\ ( C:\Findit )
Disconnect from the internet entirely. If you use an 'always on' internet connection unplug it.
Let your PC be idle for 15 minutes !!

Open the Findit folder and run the FindIt's.bat and wait for a text to open, it will take a while so be patient, post the results back here in your next reply please.

If you get an error similar to: autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications, choose close to terminate the application...etc etc' or a 16 bit application error.

Go here and use the appropriate fix for your system. More info here.

Before we go hunting again I'd like you to double-check the legitimacy of some files for me.
Please go to VirusTotal and check out the following:

C:\WINDOWS\ICONT.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\TSC.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\VSAPI32.DLL

Either click on 'Browse' at the top of the window and locate the files or simply paste the file into the box. Then click on 'Send'.
The file scanner will run the file by multiple scan engines from various Anti-Virus vendors and then show you the results. If they turn out to be bad, please leave them in the list below for termination by Killbox.

Run HijackThis again and checkmark these entries:

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
O16 - DPF: {EB623776-492A-42CA-9571-3AA39F58530B} -
O20 - Winlogon Notify: Controls Folder - C:\WINDOWS\system32\puapi.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: Dynamic Directory - C:\WINDOWS\system32\l88mlil118q.dll (file missing)

Close ALL WINDOWS/BROWSERS and click Fix Checked

Download Killbox from here.

Double-click killbox.exe on your desktop.
Select the option "Delete on reboot".
Now highlight and 'copy' the entire list of filepaths below:

(exclude the bottom three if they turn out clean at VirusTotal)

C:\WINDOWS\system32\puapi.dll
C:\WINDOWS\NAIL.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\FLJHSU.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\ICONT.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\TSC.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\VSAPI32.DLL

Open 'file' in the killbox menu at the top and choose 'Paste from clipboard'

Now you will see, them pasted in the "Full Path of File to Delete" field.
There's a little dropdown-arrow next to that field.
If you expand it, these lines should all be there together!

Then press the red button with a white X in it.
Killbox will tell you that all listed files will be deleted on next reboot.
Click YES.

When it asks if you would like to Reboot now, click YES
If you get a "PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by External Process!" message then just restart manually.

Then post a fresh HJT log and another FindIt log.

No sign of Nail.exe anymore which is good. However, more worryingly is the detection of Look2Me dll's in the Ewido report along with a morphing 020 Winlogon entry in your HJT log.

Let's be on the safe side here. Make a folder on your desktop and name it Backups. Locate the file C:\WINDOWS\ICONT.EXE

Left click and drag it into the Backup folder on your desktop to copy it. Don't copy and paste. Now open killbox, click on "Delete on Reboot" and paste these filepaths into the "Full path of file to delete" box.

C:\WINDOWS\ICONT.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\system32\q686lgls16q6.dll

Click the Red button with the white X after each but decline to 'reboot now' when asked until the second one has been pasted in.

When the the machine has rebooted back into normal mode please do the following:

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

It looks like you've been busy.

It also looks like your VX2 Nail asked it's friend along to the party just before we exterminated it. You only became infected with Look2Me on the 27th.

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

I noticed the HijackThis log in the Angelfire link is using a 'selective startup' in msconfig. Before generating the new HJT log, could you click on Start> Run and type MSConfig in the 'Run' box. When the System Configuration Utility opens, click on the 'Startup Tab' and make sure there is a checkmark beside each entry. Ensure the 'General Tab' has the "normal startup" option checked.
REBOOT when asked to by Windows to complete any change and then generate the new HJT log please.
