Hello-

I turned on one of the PCs and noticed that the display looked garbled. I thought it may be the graphics driver, so I uninstalled and then re-installed the driver. This did not work.
I verified that the BIOS was updated to the most recent and all the Microsoft updates had been applied.
I then booted in Safe Mode and the display issue went away.

What do you think could be causing this?

Try right clicking on the Desktop and selecting "Properties"
Then click on the Settings tab and adjust the slider there to see how it affects the display.

I'd suspect that this is either a resolution issue (which the slider thing will fix) or an issue with your browser. To rule out the browser problems, try using another browser, such as Firefox (free here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ )

Thanks for the suggestion...I tried that. Actually, I don't have to be in IE for this to happen. My desktop icons and the Programs menu are garbled and have lines running through them.

Any other suggestiosn owudl be really helpful...

Thanks

Sorry, eye problems got in my way again!

Try installing the most updated version of your video drivers. Even if you have the most updated version now, it may have become corrupted.

I'm unsure of the characters in the address bar - but wonder if your video card is overheating. Can you open the case and see if the fan is spinning (don't touch anything inside of the case - just look)? If it's a laptop, try blowing it out with a can of compressed air (don't use a vacuum cleaner or a garage air hose - that can cause damage).
