Have spent some time trying to resolve high CPU usage and found that by updating the latest components a couple of days ago on PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 it has created the problem experienced. My system would not log into the user accounts (or I was too impatient to wait the extended time required) as it was bogging down, but could be started OK in Safe Mode.
