I had the antivirus xp 2008 virus and downloaded a program to remove it from this website, it worked great. The only problem I have know is that I dont have any restore options, I cant turn the computer off by shuting down or restart I have to keep unplugging it in order to get it to do anything. I tried installing microsoft xp agai  n but it has not helped. I dont have any options in the screensaver or desktop background left. It is like my computer was wiped clean of so many files and options. It is running really slow now and it takes a long time to get it from one program to another. I am not sure what to do I am not very computer savvy. If there is anyone that can help I would really appreciate it.

When you reinstalled XP, did you format or just do a repair install? If the latter, then I suggest reformatting and trying from scratch. The issue with the virus you had, is that it allows other files to be downloaded from other places.

Try the fixes at Kelly's Korner.

Restore the Task Bar to Default Settings - #99 on the left.
Restore Taskbar and Start Menu - #117 on the left.
Restore Desktop and Screensaver Tabs - #128 on the right.
Restore Accessibility Options to Default Settings - #135 on the right.

Right click on it and save the .reg file to your desktop. Then, double click on the file icon (on your desktop) to merge it into your registry. You may need to reboot your computer for the changes to take affect.

With any fix like this you should create a new restore point and backup the registry first. For backing up the registry I like to use ERUNT.
