Hi all, hope someone can help,
l decided to run defrag, but could not analyze, got message something like :

task chkdisk /f scheduled.

I reboot computer and chkdisk ran automatically on start up!!

Since then l have this dialogue box:

Winlogon. exe - Bad Image
The application or DLL C:\Windows\System32\MSGINA.DLL
is not a valid windows image. Please check against your installation diskette
OK

When l press OK l get the following:

User Interface failure
The Logon User Interface DLL msgina.dll failed to load.
Contact your system administrator to replace the DLL, or restore the original DLL.

Help please!! any suggestions??

many thanks geoff

Run the System File Checker...

go to Start->Run then Type

sfc /scannow

You will need your Windows XP Installation CD
For more information on SFC, See

Microsoft's Website:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documen...le_checker.mspx

I have an Article on SFC on my Site also..

Whoops, I now saw that you cannot access windows at all...

First I would try to boot into safe mode (F8 while booting) then run the System File Checker...

If you cannot boot into safe mode ..

Then I would do a Repair Install...
Boot to your Windows XP CD then push R when the blue screen comes up

Hi, thanks very much for your advice, all working now
Unfortunately, all is very sluggish ( really slow) :flowers: .
I have cleared all temp files, ran adware, spybot and kaspersky, with and without system restore. Have ran defrag and have 90% resources available. Any idea why the computer runs sooooo slowly??
Any help would be most appreciated.

Many thanks Geoff
Geoff
