I went into option only C:> prompt and I can not get it besides the pc is frezeed and i have to shutdown. Started again with F8 and with the option C:> in safe mode then now i got the C:> prompt. I write win.com and teh rsponse that the files autoexec.bat is no there and I should go into option of C:> only. I hope you understand and help to fix this problem

from the c prompt
scanreg <space> /restore
Do not type <space> just make sure to put a space after you type scanreg.
pick an earlier date before you modified the file.

Your computer won't boot without a good copy of himem.sys. Himem.sys is a memory manager and one of the first files to load when you boot. Go here and download it from that page. It is a page that talks about Windows 95 but it will work. It will fit on a floppy.

When you get the floppy in the computer that won't boot, press F8 to get to where you were before. Choose command prompt safe mode (system command in safe mode) then type the following:

copy A:\himem.sys C:\Windows

and press enter.

If it says do you want to overwrite himem.sys say yes.

Remove the floppy and reboot normally. You can also get a copy of himem.sys from any 98/95 computer.
