I recently cleaned a few viruses from my PC (thanks to a Malware Expert/Bleeping computer). It ran 2 months perfectly until a few days ago.
The Windows task manager shows a continuous network activity although no program uses it: network activity a few minutes after boot up end at ca. 80 kb/s although no program is used. The network activity was always nil until then.

Suspecting a virus, I ran on-line scanners (Kaspersky and F-Secure) as well as Cure-it. They all found different viruses and quaranteened/eliminated them (I remember having see Trojan.Downloader.origin, not sure about the other viruses).

I use a PC running under Windows XP, updated to SP3 two months ago.

I would sincerely appreciate your help to get rid of this virus(?)/undesired network activity.
Many thanks in advance to all Malware Experts helping us eliminating these viruses with such patience.

NOTE: I can no longer start in safe mode since I attempted to install Ubuntu. The PC freezes just a few seconds after choosing the desired safe mode (any). I unstalled Ubuntu, but I still cannot start in safe mode.

EDIT: I just noticed that Avira Antivir found the TR/Dldr.Small.acyj Trojan in several locations on the hard disk.

Topic title was: Infected By Several Viruses, Cannot get rid of them with my current anti-virus programs ~ OB

I posted anew topic two weeks ago. As I unfortunately did not receive any reply, I just re-posted here.
In the mean time, several viruses have been found, among others by Kaspersky online scanner:

- Trojan-Spy.HTML.Bayfraud.ks
- Trojan-Spy.HTML.Bayfraud.bk
- Trojan-Spy.HTML.Paylap.cd
- Trojan-Spy.HTML.Fraud.gen
- Tojan-Spy.HTML.Paylap.dt
- Email-Worm.Win32.Magistr.b
- Trojan-Spy.HTML.Bayfraud.aa
- Trojan-Spy.HTML.Bayfraud.g
- Trojan-Spy.HTML.Pcard.c
- Trojan-Spy.HTML.Paylap.aa
- Trojan-Spy.HTML.Bayfraud.dc
- Email-Worm.Win32.BadtransII
- Backdoor.Win32.Hupigon.dccn.

I may be missing some viruses, as some of the threat names are given as "not-a-virus" such as "not-a-viru:AdWare.Win32.PurityScan.ak".

I cleaned a few viruses from my PC in July (thanks to a Malware Expert/Bleeping computer). It ran 2 months perfectly until recently.

I apologize for the very long delay. We have a huge backlog of HijackThis Logs to handle and it has been taking us greater time than normal to get caught up. If you are still having a problem, and want us to analyze your information, please reply to this topic stating that you still need help and I will work with you on resolving your computer problems. If your problem has been resolved, please post a reply letting us know so we can close your topic.

Unfortunately, if I do not hear back from you within 5 days, I will be forced to close your topic. If you still need help after I have closed your topic, feel free to create a new one.

Once again, I apologize for the delay in responding to this topic.

I am sincerely sorry for not replying earlier. I was actually awaiting an automatic e-mail notification which I did not get (do not know why the e-mail was not sent???).
I thought that the backlog was so huge that I would have no chance to get a help. I just came back by curiosity and saw that someone came to help.

I am not sure if we can continue this thread or I must open a new one.

  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)

I am not seeing anything in the logs.

Let's try one other thing:

Do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
    • Scan Options:
    Scan Archives
    Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan:Select My Computer
  • This will program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
    • Now click on the Save as Text button:
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • Copy and paste that information in your next post.
Please post the Kaspersky report together with a fresh HijackThis log for review.

Ok. From the scan, the only files we are seeing as infections are:

1. In your email mailboxes. So those would need to be deleted manually. Unfortunately, I have no idea which emails they would be, but they would definitely be attachments.

2. As false positives to security tools you downloaded, which is fine.

3. In your DoctorWeb quarantine folder, which can just be emptied to remove them from your system. They are not, though, hurting you.

Other than that, you are clean.

Ok. I manually deleted the infected files.
I am relieved that none of these virus was actually "active". I feel bad to have used your time for false positives. I am conscious that you have very few time to spend on each case.

On the other hand, I noticed that my PC is running much slowlier than before, in particular for video streaming. Is it possible that it is a simple consequence of my imagination (paranoid to viruses, even when there is none)?

In any case, please accept my sincere thanks for your great help.

Regards,

What I suggest is that you go through your startups and disable those that do not need to run. That should increase your speed. Instructions on how to do this can be found here:

How to use the Startup Database

This next step may also help:

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browserClick Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browserClick Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located at the bottom of each menu.]
