A program was downloaded to my computer a few days ago and Sophos immediately detected infections with: W32/Getcodec-A, Mal/DownLdr-O, and Virtuemondo/Vundo
Currently running Windows XP Professional SP2

Problems encountered:
most mp3 files were infected with W32/Getcodec-A overtime. I did not open these files when and after they were infected.
IE7 - constant popups including ads, invitation to purchase antivirus 2008, antivirus 2009, malware remover, etc.; unable to navigate to some websites (such as gmail) but was fixed after removal attempts and problem appeared again now
PC was running a lot slower in general
Windows update is disabled, I was unable to start Automatic Updates in services.msc with error message
"could not start the Automatic Updates service on Local Computer
Error 1508: The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it."

Getcodec-A: Most of my mp3 files were infected as detected by Sophos and I have deleted them into the recycle bin. It has never shown up again since then.
Mal/DownLdr-O: Sophos traced this back to C:\Windows\system32\urqPfGyv.dll; When I tried to clean it up, I get a message:
'The system process C:/SYSTEM/Windows/System32/lsass.exe terminated unexpectedly with status code 0. The system will now restart in 60 seconds'
Vundo: This was detected as Troj/Virtum-Gen by Sophos and Virtumonde by spybot
Sophos was unable to clear it.
Spybot log (after I pressed remove button):
Virtumonde: User settings Registry key, fixed)
HKEY_USERS/S-1-f-21-2705229460-1246508002-1572096107-1006\Microsoft/rdfa
Virtumonde: Settings (Registry key, fixed)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\aoprndtws
However, when I restarted again, these two items were detected again so it seems they've regenerated somehow.

Ad-aware and vundo fix did not find anything.
SDFix was run and removed some components of Vundo

I have tried many spyware removal programs and the problems persist, please advice!
I am currently using another computer to access this forum because my infected PC cannot open this website.
Thanks so much in advance!
