OK I have looked through the Am I infected... forum and found a posting that sounds like it may be my problem too.(Antivirus 2009 popup) I have already done the first step recommended running MBAM but unlike the original poster my scan didn't find anything. Do I just add my reply to that problem thread or should I start my own topic? Not sure the proper way to proceed.

PC cillin has alerted that Cryp_fakeAV is found yet after running a manual scan nothing is found. The log file seems to indicat e that the infected file is in a system restore location if I am interpreting the location correctly. I am guessing that may be why scans may not spot it.

Welcome to BC
As you have discovered not all problems are exactly the same. It would be best for you to post your own problem in that section, stating your problem and what you have done so far. Our experts will be there to help sort things out with you

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
Do not send me PMs with problems that should be posted in the forums. Keep it in the forums, so everyone benefits
