My PC is behaving very strangely on occassion. Some instances it will be working perfectly and then I will open an application or web browser and the CPU Usage will shoot up to 70-80%.

I have noticed that two processes are using the most CPU. Sometimes it is the Winlogon.exe and at other times it is the Explorer.exe.

Also another peculiar thing is that the CPU usage graphs (two side by side) are mirror images horizontally. So if one side shows an upward graph the other shows almost the exact downward graph.

I have posted Hijack This Log in the hopes that someone can help ! !

I apologize for the very long delay. We have a huge backlog of HijackThis Logs to handle and it has been taking us greater time than normal to get caught up. If you are still having a problem, and want us to analyze your information, please reply to this topic stating that you still need help and I will work with you on resolving your computer problems. If your problem has been resolved, please post a reply letting us know so we can close your topic.

Unfortunately, if I do not hear back from you within 5 days, I will be forced to close your topic. If you still need help after I have closed your topic, feel free to create a new one.

Once again, I apologize for the delay in responding to this topic.

Thanks for the reply. I am still having the same issues.

I can use the PC for 3-4 hours and then it will slow to a halt. Randomly, the PC will freeze and when I check the Task Manager, I will notice that Winlogin.exe or Explorer.exe is using 70-80% CPU. Then even when I exit from IE or Outlook, the process never terminates in Task Manager.

The only solution then is to reboot the PC.

Any assistance would be appreciated. My next step is to format the HD and re-install. But I almost think it may be a hardware issue somehow related to heat?
