I'm running Windows XP on my notebook. It's infected with "MS Antivirus".

I downloaded "mbam-setup" to do the cleanup but not able to boot up now. It stalls at "Windows is starting up".

Any suggestions?

Can you get to Safe Mode and run it?

How to enter safe mode(XP)
Using the F8 Method
Restart your computer.
When the machine first starts again it will generally list some equipment that is installed in your machine, amount of memory, hard drives installed etc. At this point you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu.
Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys.
Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode.

This is simply amazing! It worked! My notebook is back up!!

What is amazing is the quick response time and the thoughtfulness and consideration that have gone into putting together this website. This is a great act of human kindness and I'm extremely grateful.

With much appreciation

Thank you!

hello Ed,Thank you for the kind words of appreciation. Would you please post the scan log. So that we may review the findings as some malware require further steps.
