Hi, I hope I am posting in the right place. I know very little about computers so I hope I can tell enough about what is going on that someone can help me.
First, a site popped up saying I had spyware on my comp. and started scanning. I immediatly cancelled it. However, after that on my main screen there was a yellow box saying, " WARNING! Spyware detected on your computer! Install an antivirus or spyware remover to clean your computer." Also, every time my computer is idle there are bugs crawling all over it, as if to be eating up the screen. After that my computer became very slow and would freeze up alot.
So, I did a search to find out how to fix it. I was told to install VundoFix. I installed and ran it. Then deleted everything it found infected. After that every time I restarted my computer I got a box saying, " RUNDLL Error loading c:/PROGRA-1/MYWEBS-1/bar/1bin/MWSBAR.DLL This specidied module could not be found. " My computer started getting worse...slower, freezing, etc. I then went on another search for help, where I then downloaded and ran Ad-Aware and deleted everything it found infected. Now I get another message when I start up, " RUNDLL Error loading c:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/_C009873.DAT This specified module could not be found". Now my computer is really screwed up. It's very slow, freezes all the time and I can't access any page my using icons or start menu, but only by first going to Control Panel and going to Yahoo on my favorites. I also can't usually click links or it just freezes.
I really hope someone can help me and I haven't completly ruined my computer. I would appreciate any help. Thanks

Hello and welcome.
The cannot find, run etc.. are common after running some malware tools . It produces an orphaned registry entr, this can be corrected using a tool called autoruns.

Download Autoruns, search for the related entry and then delete it.
Create a new folder on your hard drive called AutoRuns (C:\AutoRuns) and extract (unzip) the file there. (click HERE if you're not sure how to do this.)
Open the folder and double-click on autoruns.exe to launch it.
Please be patient as it scans and populates the entries.
When done scanning, it will say Ready at the bottom.
Scroll through the list and look for a startup entry related to the file(s) in the error message.
Right-click on the entry and choose delete.
Reboot your computer and see if the startup error returns.....thanks quietman7 for the fix...

NEXT:
Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.
alternate download link 1
alternate download link 2
  • Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
  • Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
  • When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Then click Finish.
  • MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
  • On the Scanner tab:
    • Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
    • Then click on the Scan button.
  • If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
  • The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
  • When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
  • Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
  • Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.
  • The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.
Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you may be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. Regardless if prompted to restart the computer or not, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware. MBAM may make changes to your registry as part of its disinfection routine. If you're using other security programs that detect registry changes, they may alert you after scanning with MBAM. Please permit the program to allow the changes.

Hi, Sorry it has taken me so long to get back, I'v had to work alot the last couple of days. Any way, something new has happened. Not sure if it is a realted problem or not. A few days ago while on my computer I got a blue screen that said:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you have seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps.
Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapter.
Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components , restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup options, and then select safe mode.
*** STOP: 0x0000008E (0xc000001D, 0x805E4FAF, 0xEE9E6870, 0x00000000)

I then restrted my comp. and it seemed fine. I can't recall if this happened before or after I ifrst posted here. So, today I got on here to do the steps you last ask me to do and I got this message again. I then restarted again and here I am. I have yet to do the last steps you ask me to do. Just wondering if you could advise me from here. Should I continue to do the steps or something else?
Thanks again!

I believe this to be a sign of failing RAM.

Do you have adequate disk space

Go to Start >> My Computer
mouse over the Local Disk C:\
Tell us the Free space and Total space.
