I have ordered an HP laptop from the USA (I live in Mongolia) a few months ago. All accessories were complete but I couldn't find the Windows Vista disc. I didn't mind that very much at that time but now, I think I might have caught a virus and can't seem to get rid of it. And only possible solution seems to be reinstalling my OS. I considered installing Windows XP of which I have copy but my laptop has too many gadgets which don't have their drivers for XP so it doesn't seem to be an option. I only have the serial key to Vista at the bottom of my laptop and I wanted to ask whether I could use another Vista to install it with my serial. Also is it legal to do this if possible?

Your HP should have a recovery partition that will allow you to reformat the drive and start over - usually it's accessed either by pressing F11 as the computer is first turned on. Sometimes it will require that you insert the recovery disks that it prompted you to make when you first started to use the system.
