I was working along fine when I tried to open my picture-editing software....

The software would not open, and then, all of a sudden, my Alt+Tab wasn't working either. The only way I would switch programs/windows was to minimize everything and then maximize what I window I wanted.

So, I decided to reboot.

OMG! BSOD. I can't even F8!

As soon as it comes up, I get a BSOD w/the HP logo in the middle and three F options, none of which are operable.

The BSOD comes on immediately when I reboot, and the computer is dead from there out.

What in the world has happened? I have AVG running, Spybot, Ad-aware, etc. etc. etc. on my machine. Could a virus have gotten by all of these?

This morning my 8YO downloaded a game off Cartoon Network, and it wouldn't work....do you think that website had a virus in it???

How can I get out of this BSOD if I can't get the computer to work at all??

If you're not getting past the HP screen, it's likely that there's a hardware failure that's preventing the boot sequence from starting.
If the 3 F options aren't working (should be System Recovery, Boot Menu, and BIOS/Settings/Setup) then you're going to have to start removing stuff inside the case in an attempt to get it to boot. Here's a guide to hardware troubleshooting this way - just adjust it to your situation (for example - you won't be able to boot to the CD to run the tests) http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/70216/hardware-troubleshooting-via-system-stripdown/
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
