Hi,

Sometimes when i load up CS:S It crashed on me or has some stupid video problem, I.E. No textured walls. Although every time it crashes i follow the instructions on STEAM and find out my CPU and MOTHERBOARD have some kind of Problem and need to be updated, i don't want to take that risk. Most times CS:S will load just fine, please help me.

I have had that problem with css on my other computer that is a Pentium 4 3.0 ghz,1gb ram and the problem I think came from the onboard video that was ATI xpress 200 only 64 mb shared memory.

I believe I lowered all the settings even used a special scipt that altered the code of the game to get fps up.

What are you system specs?

As reelkill has stated, the only way you're going to 'force' your current PC to run a game it isn't meant to handle is to lower the quality settings in the game itself. If that still doesn't work you might have to bight the bullet and upgrade, if you want to play the game.

Do you have all the latest drivers for your video card? Steam does automatic updates for their games so I don't think that could be the problem. Any other info that steam has said would help, because I remember my game would crash also but I cannot remember what I did to fix it. It would help if you provided what exactly steam has said about it.

It's just some random crashes, its the common ones like that "00x Memory blah blah"error. I've got the latest drivers, but if i find out exactly, ill report back.

oh now its memory, I believe that you are consuming too much memory and that is what is causing the computer to crash. If you haven't lowered the graphic settings on the game you should try that, also you may have too many other programs running while you are trying to play the game. If the total of the amount of memory besing used is more than amound available then the game will crash.

ah CSS the one thing I am good at. Here is what I have learned about CSS through the years. It is a processor runned game. Your graphics card has little effect on it. I went from a 9800 radeon pro (2001 gfx card) and got about 40 fps and a respected 70 fps on dust maps. I got a 8800 gt and wondered why am I getting barely of an fps boost? If you want the 100 constant you really want to get a good processor. I hoped that helped. You might want to run a FPS cfg just pm me if you are intersted that might stop your crashing might not have enough memory/specs
