Even with it plugged into the wall. I've had my computer for 8 months, have a Toshiba Satelitte notebook with Windows Vista Home Premium and I've never had any problems. Yesterday I was using it and the screen went black, it did that when I first got it (its a glitch I guess) but was told how to correct the problem and no problems since.

I tried restarting the computer several times and each time Windows says it can't repair itself? I hope I'm not screwed. Here are the details it gives me and they mean nothing to me:
Event name: Startup Repair V2
Signature 1: AutoFailover
Signature 2: 6.0.6000.16386.6.06000.16386
Signature 3: 6
Signature 4: 524296
Signature 5: Corrupt Volume
Signature 6: Bad Patch
Signature 7: 0
Signature 8: 3
Signature 9: WrpRepair
Signature 10: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.2561
locale ID 1033

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

You got to look at it this way. It could be something stupid, but you only have a few months of warranty left. Better to have it fixed professionally now than to spend big bucks later. Laptops are a little harder to repair, hence more cost.

A failed boot and the words corrupt volume and bad patch make me a little leery.

You might want to look at this tutorial and see if it offers anything

I'd suggest locating the C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\SRT\SRTTrail.txt file and posting it here for us to have a look at.

I was unable to locate the reference for the Startup Repair details that you provided - but the "Corrupt Volume" thing is a bit ominous.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
