Yesterday my pc suddenly gave some strange errors after startup after that it suddenly became impossible to run exe files. I found out that the only way i could startup firefox was using a html site wich was still on my deskop. After trying "WinXP_EXE_Fix.reg" I was able to run some programs but most of them still gave a error that windows didn't reconise the file type. After rebooting my pc (after the Winxp_exe_Fix ) I was finally able to startup Hijackthis and let it scan my pc.
The thing I don't get is if my pc doesn't reconise exe files anymore, why does it reconise explorer.EXE  also al my shortcuts on my deskop turned to LNK files wich I can't open. I don't know much about pc's so I didn't want to mess with regedit.exe (except with the .reg file) also after 3 times of rebooting and starting the .reg file some programs got their origional icon back but still didn't work. (also i can't load my viruscanner wich is Norman).

Is there anyway I can fix this without reinstalling xp?
