Some Scans give out very detailed Information that the Scammers love to see.

For some of the New Members that can become a Nightmare if they Post it, just on the Forum, without someone helping them.

During this Thread it came up again,

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/top...tml#entry926708

dc3 directed me here, later, to see if somehow a solution could be found by Admins?

I want to Help in any way I can on this, I think the New Members need protection as much as we can give them, they are not aware of what we fight against.

If the Member in the Link was to Post the Log of Belarc on the Forum that Member would be vunerable to the Scammers. I tried to direct the Scan Log toward dc3 to try to Protect the Member and only that as can be seen.

What I am asking is can BC set up an Area, whether by a small SubForum only accessable to inwards by Members and accessable to Staff to ensure Safety, or an Email Address to designated Staff Members, whereby Scans could be read then passed back onto the Forum, with the Personal bits removed?

Next step for BC?

And what would we do with members who post outside those forums? That happens more than you realize. Our staff is on top of most of the issues going on in the forums. There is usually one or another online most of the time
If you see an issue, report it in Tidiness forum
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/137145/bleeping-computer-tidiness/
If there is a situation that needs immediate attention, PM a moderator. You can see if one's online at the bottom of the main forum index

OK, Thanks for that.

In the situation I quoted would it be OK to ask the Member to send the Scan to a Staff Member for checking? That makes me feel more comfortable, rather than just let them Post it? I realise it is more work, but at least the ones we recommend Belarc or other similar Scans to would have some protection. As we know some new Members are just not aware of the Danger at times.

If you're going to recommend to someone to use Belarc, why don't you just tell them to edit out the keys and such before posting?
