Explorer Problems After Spyware Removal

HI All,

My first post, and I hope you can help me. My computer was infected with the AntivirusXP 2008 malware/virus. I had no prblems removing that, but it also hijacked my browsers, web connection, etc. After running Rogue Remove, Easy Cleaner, Clean Up and Malwarebytes i finally got my internet back. I upgrded my Firefox browser and that works just fine. I also upgraded my IE to the most recent IE 7 upgrade. The program works just fine in safe mode with network connections, but in normal mode it has all kinds of issues. It crashes immediately several times before it will finally load. After that it will keep popping up a warning that says Internet Exploere has encoountered a problem and needs to close. The program still works though. Anyway, here is my hijackthis log.

Oops, forgot to mention that my security setting are changed everytime I start IE as well.

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. We aim to provide the valuable service known to come from BC to every member we can, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine. If you have not done so, include a description of your problem, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below a staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

We need to create an OTViewIt Report
  • Please download OTViewIt by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the OTViewIT icon on your desktop.
  • Click the "Scan All Users" checkbox.
  • Click on the Run Scan button.
  • Two reports will open, copy and paste them in a reply here:
  • OTViewIt.txt <-- Will be opened
  • Extra.txt <-- Will be minimized
If you have not downloaded HiJackThis yet:
Posted ImageClick here to download HJTInstall.exe
  • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
