Concerning;
Title;Windows XP Service Pack 3 (KB936929)
Originated;Update History
Installation Failure
Error Code: 0x80200010

Starting with;
Download does not start after you accept the EULA on the Windows Update Web site

I followed instruction to register the files;
To resolve this problem, you must reregister the following files:• Msscript.ocx
• Dispex.dll
• Vbscript.dll
• Scrrun.dll

by entering >start>run>regsvr32 msscript.ocx,

This resulted in a completion or success message, I'm not sure wether this was a register or re-register, . . however please can anyone tell me what I am suppose to do next, as per ;

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/836936/en-us

4. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Appearance and Themes, click Folder Options, and then click the File Types tab.
5. In the Registered File Types list, click the JS extension, click Advanced, and then click Edit.
6. In the Application to perform action box, type the following command depending on your operating system.• For Microsoft Windows XP, type:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\WScript.exe "%1" %*

In 5 I did not find the JS extension, ????

I did find JSScript Script File, . . . . Is this the same one ????

If so does this action apply to all four files, (above) ???

I found this;

Rename (or just delete) the SoftwareDistribution folder and

see if it helps.

You can use the procedure described here:

http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/v5co...id=21&ln=en

Note that a side effect of renaming or deleting the

SoftwareDistribution folder is that you lose your Windows Update

History listing (not critical).

(later on, you can just delete the renamed SoftwareDistribution

folder)

But can not make it out, and can not see the relationship with the, Microsoft Online Assisted Support ?

Anyone who can co-relate this in explanation I will be glad to hear from !

OK, the original post is about downloading the Windows Live One Care, Security package, the requirement was SP-3, . . I was not able to D/L either and the problem arose that involves the registry questions posted in the last post.

Today I have received Updates and have a couple of question concerning this.

I turned closed my dial-up connection last night before retiring and left it on with the programs in the task bar. So this morning the computer was cleared of programs and there was a note that Windows updates have been D/Led, so I take it, although I previously, and or was sure they were not turned on, somehow the clock must start the computer and do it's little job while I'm sleeping !

I know I did not turn this on from the update site, so I must have overlooked something on the PC.

Alright, in any case here are the updates, what I would like to know is where is sp3, since the update D/L was or is working ?

My next question is why is there not some kind of notification that I am receiving updates, but I do not have sp3 installed,

I am beginning to realize and or believe, from what I am reading, and have observed here, that previous updates for are overwriting things like, Msscript.ocx .

It is a shame that the richest man in the world can't be a little more conscientious about how he treats all the little rinky dinks that made him so damn rich, I am beginning to get P.O.

I have had enough ! I'm not going to take it anymore !

Article ID : 836936
Last Review : December 5, 2007
Revision : 2.6
SYMPTOMS
When you try to download updates from the Windows Update Web site, the Web Page Dialog window opens after you accept the End User License Agreement (EULA). However, the download may not start, and the download progress bar may not move.
RESOLUTION
Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.

To resolve this problem, you must reregister the following files:
€ Msscript.ocx
€ Dispex.dll
€ Vbscript.dll
€ Scrrun.dll
After you reregister the files, you must then make sure that files with the JS file name extension are correctly associated with a program. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regsvr32 msscript.ocx, and then click OK.
3. Repeat step 2 with the following commands:
€ regsvr32 dispex.dll
€ regsvr32 vbscript.dll
€ regsvr32 scrrun.dll
4. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Appearance and Themes, click Folder Options, and then click the File Types tab.
5. In the Registered File Types list, click the JS extension, click Advanced, and then click Edit.
6. In the Application to perform action box, type the following command depending on your operating system. For Microsoft Windows XP, type:C:\WINDOWS\System32\WScript.exe "%1" %*

Then after the above Nothing !
