Well, I have virus issues at the moment and will try another fix tonight when I get home, thanks to HJT help.

But, if things are too messed up I'm thinking I may need to format the hard drive to clear it out. What I was wondering was, how do I make a boot disk - and use it? I assume I would need one if going that route. Obviously I'm not very knowledgeable on these things.

Or, if I do an upgrade to XP Professional from XP Home, will this totally replace the screwed up registry and it's associated virus? I'm toying with doing the upgrade if one of my sons doesn't cough up my XP Home CD.

Thanks for any input here!

The XP Home and Pro CDs should be bootable. If you're going to upgrade from Home to Pro, and you want a clean slate, you can format through the CD services. I'd suggest doing a full format so you know you're getting rid of everything on that drive.

We're going to make the merry-go-round go faster, so everyone needs to hang on tighter-just to keep from being thrown to the wolves.

If you get XP Pro, get the full disc and not the "upgrade".
