Some reason my system restore points keep disappearing, I only have 1, I noticed this after my friend sent me a program he made, System Restore has only 1 restore point left, and every day that gets deleted then another one appears, I think he may have infected me with something, It's a Windows vista home basic laptop and it has about 1.4 gb of free space, I may be infected with some virus that keeps deleting my restore points, because of this, If a single setting messes up I might not be able to restore back to fix it.

I know that virus , trojans , worms , spyware , malware , can actually hide in system restore. and if system restore is on and there hiding in system restore nothing will detect them. . and u said somethun is eating ur restore points . wonder if 2 and 2 equals 4 here ........ hmmm

if u havent all ready turn ur system restore off and then scan malwarebytesantimalware
then after that ur antivirus software make sure to update it

for malwarebytes here is link . make sure to update and do full scan

He said it was a game, when i opened it it looked like some weird prank, i asked him what happened? and he said that it was a virus, i kept asking him what it did but he wouldn't tell me, i haven't noticed much different, but thats when i noticed my restore points were all gone except for 1, i don't know if anyone can help me fix this, but i have carefully checked my system myself and can't find anything, and i haven't got any extra hard drives to back up all my stuff for a re-installation of windows.

EDIT: I have just installed MBAM, but it will not update, it gets an error with all of the servers.

Hi,
Have just started with this site. This is similar to what I am experiencing.
When I try to system restore there are no old points to go to, only new ones.
I have tried many different ways to fix this, but now system restore isn't working.
This started for me while surfing for porn, not exactly sure which link did it, so not much help there.
I will keep watching this topic, and trying to figure it out.
Giving up porn for now!

try sdfix its for hard to remove viruses , rootkits and trojans that antivirus software cant detect or get rid of .|
worth a shot

heres a link its here on bleepingcomputer
just make sure to disable ur normal antivrus before useing sdfix or it could conflict and cause probs

Well i think it's jkdefrag, it was scheduled at 11:59 every day, 1 restore point survived after turning it off, but now I'm just wondering why vista's scheduled restore point at 00:00 disappeared just today but not the windows update one.
