When in my email Thunderbird and clicking on a URL nothing happens.
Normally this action should fire up the default Browser and take you to the site in question. I have lost this facility. Any cure ? Please

Like you say, that function is a "typical" one you should expect to work properly in Thunderbird. I'd probably try uninstalling it and re-installing it.

If it once worked, and no configuration changes were made that prompted the malperformance, it might be a quick way to restore it.
