Hello dsmeltink Welcome to Bleeping Computer

Before we begin, please save these instructions in Notepad to your Desktop, or print them, for easy reference.
Much of our fix will be done in Safe mode, and you will be unable to access this thread at that time. If you have questions at any point, or are unsure of the instructions, feel free to post here and ask for clarification before proceeding.

Please download SDFix by AndyManchesta and save it to your Desktop.
When using this tool, you must use the Administrator's account or an account with "Administrative rights"
  • Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
  • This is the drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix.
Do NOT run it yet.

Now, download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your Desktop
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.

Reboot into Safe Mode by continuously tapping the F8 key as soon as the computer begins to boot. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Open the SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services or Registry Entries found then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the computer.
  • When the computer restarts, the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished
  • Press any key to end the script and load your Desktop icons.
  • Once the Desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt.
  • Copy/Paste the contents of the results file Report.txt in your next reply..
Note: If this error message is displayed when running SDFix: "(The command prompt has been disabled by your administrator). Press any key to continue...."
Please go to Start > Run > and Copy/Paste the following line:
%systemdrive%\SDFix\apps\swreg IMPORT %systemdrive%\SDFix\apps\Enable_Command_Prompt.reg
Press Ok and then run SDFix again.

-- If the Command Prompt window flashes on then off again on XP or Win 2000, please go to Start > Run > and Copy/Paste the following line:
%systemdrive%\SDFix\apps\FixPath.exe /Q
Reboot and then run SDFix again.

-- If SDFix still does not run, check the %comspec% variable. Right-click My Computer > click Properties > Advanced > Environment Variables and check that the ComSpec variable points to cmd.exe.
%SystemRoot%\system32\cmd.exe

Now,
  • Open Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, and select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a location you will remember.
  • Copy and Paste that log into your next reply.
Finally: Reboot the computer.

Please Post:

A new HJT log

Hi White Warrior,

Thank you for the reply.

I will try to follow your instructions as soon as possible but I have a busy week ahead. Therefore I do not know when I will post the logs.

Thanks.

Dennis

Hi White Warrior,

I followed your instructions and this is what happened.

The SD-Fix did not work. I tried to run it but nothing happened.

Hello dsmeltink

Could you tell me please, did you save the Malwarebytes report before you removed the infections?
If you did, could you please post it here to me.

Before we begin, please save these instructions in Notepad to your Desktop, or print them, for easy reference.

Please download ComboFix.exe. Visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Skip the step to install the Recovery Console.
Also, to run ComboFix, please right click ComboFix and select Run as Administrator
Do NOT double click it.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.
Please post the C:\ComboFix.txt along with a new HijackThis log so we may continue cleaning the system.

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall

Hi White Warrior,

I did not save the Malwarebytes report before I removed the infections.

In the instructions for the installation/use of combofix I did not saw any instructions for Vista users.
Is this a problem? Should I use the XP installation guide?

Hello dsmeltink

Should I use the XP installation guide?

Yes please do.

The difference with Vista is you do not have to install the Recovery Console. (Vista has one built in)
Also, comboFix must be started differently with Vista as explained below:

Skip the step to install the Recovery Console.
Also, to run ComboFix, please right click ComboFix and select Run as Administrator
Do NOT double click it.

Make sure ComboFix is installed on the Desktop.
