This probably has a simple answer.

It used to be easy to search for a type of file with xp; I'd type in *.tiff and it would pull up all the tiffs in whatever location I told the computer to look. Supposedly Vista has a better search system. But when I did an advanced search and asked it to look for all the tiffs in my external hard drive, it came up with only a handful. I had to go hunting through the files myself to find what I was looking for. I even chedked the "include non-indexed, hidden, and system files" box.

What am I doing wrong???

I was out of town and couldn't check in for my answer till now. Thanks for the explanation . . . I guess there's no solution. It's not the bleeping computer, it's bleeping Microsoft! You'd think by now they would have created a solution. Those posts are from 2007.
