I have a computer that randomly crashes but won't start up again for several minutes. I know it's not the power supply thats failing as the fans run when start button is pressed, just the computer won't start up. My theory is that my mother board is shorting out, but I have no way of testing this. So could some on confirm my suspicions or point me toward what might be the cause.

Motherboard shorts are caused mostly by any metal object (The case) touching the solder on the underside of the board. Check for sloppy solder traces on the bottom of your board.
If I am helping you and I do not respond within 24 hours, please send me a PM. :)
