When I went to use the recovery disks I only got a flashing cursor. The recovery disks say that it is only for that hard drive. I haven't changed the hard drive, but appears that the recovery disks will not direct the CPU to the hard drive so it can boot up. Does any of you know if HP recognized this error and created a patch? Or how to fix this?

Hi Cess,
You may have to set your BIOS to boot from the cd...
From:
data-recovery-reviews.com

Data recovery using the HP recovery disks:
Disconnect all devices connected to the PC.
Insert the HP recovery disks into the appropriate drive
Switch on the PC
Press F1 before Windows completely starts
Select Boot Device Priority
Select the drive where the HP recovery disks reside
Save settings and exit
Once the software in the HP recovery disks becomes operational, reply to each prompt until the recovery is complete

If this doesn't work, post back and we can see what else may be the problem.
Cheers, Lucent.
