Ok well I have a HP Pavilion DV2000 series notebook (2415nr) and I have this internet issue. This issue will always give me limited or no connectivity but now changed to local access only (so I still can't use the internet) Is there a way to fix this? I use a Broadcom WLAN wifi card and my router is supplied by cable company and they are my ISP as well. Basically I can't connect via wifi or ethernet and its making me very frustrated. I can't ping anything without General Failure and I want to know what is wrong. It finds other connections extremely easy but just won't connect. It has IPv4 and IPv6 but I am not sure what to do. My other laptops all connect via wifi no problem except for this one. When I have the IPv4 set to get DNS and IP automatically it doesn't have a default gateway and I think DNS server? Its ticking me off because I just put 160$ in a new screen and if the computer is trash I will be ticked. Please any help would be appreciated.

Any fixes?

Need more information? Just post and I can reply asap.

EDIT: Its OS is Vista Also the drivers are all up to date.

I posted in wrong section so I reposted here. Sorry for any inconveniences.

Anyone have any ideas? I am thinking about just selling the notebook because I can't go on the internet and do my work. As of right now this computer is useless for me but I still have a tad bit of hope seeing as I bought it for around 800ish.

You could paste them into a notepad file then flash drive or email them to the other system.

Alan.

I have read through what you posted before you edited the post.

From what I read, there are driver problems, I/O problems, damaged registry problems, damaged system files, malware infection problems and there was an error about an addressing conflict which would stop your wireless activity.

While these problems can be fixed individually and over many long hours. It would would take a fraction of the time to reformat windows and start again.

I tried downloading those files, but I can't open .wps files. If you would like me to continue looking over them could you change the format to .doc or .txt
Regards,

Alan.

Also I do have a recovery drive but I don't know how to access it and how to recover on this notebook and am not even sure that will fix the issue.

If you reformatted the system and installed XP there should be no remains of Vista and no remains of any of the problems on vista.

Alan.

So If I buy something like this

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Microsoft-Windows-...1QQcmdZViewItem

and uninstall the OS vista then install this xp sp2 it should be working fine?

Then again I don't even know if its worth 100$ to fix.

Eitherway have any idea what I could get for this laptop if I sell it as it? If you need the specs to determine I will be happy to get them for you. Sorta ticked because I think I just wasted 160$ for a new screen for this notebook D:

If the drive is reformatted and a new OS installed there should be no problems, except for the possibility of hardware problems. You could always put a free OS on such as Linux Ubuntu.

I would be interested to know the specs of the laptop.

Alan.

How do I put a free OS on it and how exactly do I reformat it O-o Also will Linux slow it down so its kinda crappy? And what kind of Hardware Problems?

Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium (6.0, Build 6000)
System Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
System Model: HP Pavilion dv2000 (GA534UA#ABA) 2415nr is the model type really
BIOS: PhoenixBIOS 4.0 Release 6.1
Processor: AMD Turion™ 64x2 (2 CPUs), ~1.8GHz
Memory: 960MB Ram (upgradeable to 2gig)

Graphics are from NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 with approx. total memory 256 MB

Broadcom Wireless and its a 32 bit system. If you want to know anything else just post.

The drive is a DVD Music Recording drive with Lightscribe.

It also has built in Mic and Webcam which I think only the webcam works O-o

Has Quickplay touch buttons near the top and some other features and I can upload a photo gimmie a sec.

Any Ideas on what its worth or if my warranty is still good think they will fix it for me?

That looks like a respectable system. http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download is the link to Linux. You can download the .iso then burn it to a CD then install it on the system. Linux should be quite fast on the system.

If the system was fixed you could get around 400-500 so around $800. If the system is under warranty you should be able to get them to repair it. Which would consist of them erasing(reformatting) the system then using the recovery CD to reinstall Vista.

http://www.theeldergeek.com/xp_home_install_-_graphic.htm is a good guide on reformatting the system.
Regards,

Alan.
