Hi, yesterday i cought something. I think it was mhtredir.gen. It blocked my internet explorer. I lost my whole day trying to clean it and i'm not sure if i finally did. The Explorer is finally runing but everytime i star the PC there is an windows explorer window opened with a self created empty folder "\Protect\s-1-5-18\user" in the C:\Windows\System32\Microsoft directory. Also everytime i shut down the pc i see the "End Program window" that requires me to end task of some Outrunner and some "Vj18-kslj" or so called program. I just installed the HJT prog and here is my first log. Could someone please tell me if i'm OK and is there any other suspicious problem?

I need to get samples of some of your files. Please create a folder called c:\submit. Now copy the following files into that directory:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\Microsoft Outrunner\ <-- Zip up this entire folder

To copy the files simply navigate to the directory they are in and right click on the file name, and then click on copy option. Now go back to the c:\submit folder and right click in the folder and select the paste option.

Once the files are all copied zip the folder and rename submit.zip to yourmembername.zip (for example grinler.zip). If you are using XP or ME right-click on the folder and click on the Send To option and then send it to a Compressed folder. You will now see a file called yourmembername.zip. If you are using another version of Windows, please download a program called Winzip and zip it using that.

When the files are zipped, go to:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/submit-malware.php
and fill in the required fields and browsing to the file you are submitting Finally click on the Send File button.

Print out these instructions and then close all windows including Internet Explorer.

Then I want you to fix some of those entries. Please do the following:

Please make sure that you can view all hidden files. Instructions on how to do this can be found here:

How to see hidden files in Windows

Run Hijackthis again, click scan, and Put a checkmark next to each of these. Then click the Fix button:

Thanks for the pro advice. I did follow your instructions. Just one thing regarding the files you seggested for deletion. I couldn't find (as you predicted) the following:
1. c:\Program Files\Web_Rebates <-- I believe, I cleaned it with a program earlier
2. c:\windows\System32\Wcgopsvc, but in the same dir i found those similar ones:
wcgopdsx.ax
Wcgopfsd.dll
Wcgophal.dll
Wcgoppin
Wcgoppin.dll
Wcgopres
Wcgopres.dll
Wcgopsti.dll
Wcgopvex
Wcgopvex.dll
Wcgopvfw.dll

I'm sorry if i gave you too much info, but since i don't know what counts in the case, i'm trying to provide as much as i know.

Here is my new log:

Leave those other files alone. I am not 100% on them and they are not hurting you right now even if they are bad.

F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\regedit /s C:\pav.reg,C:\WINDOWS\System32\pavdr.exe,C:\WINDOWS\System32\userinit.exe,
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [7wPf?C??uNDO?S\qEC:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe] C:\WINDOWS\vnqeatv.exe

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode

Then delete these files or directories (Do not be concerned if they do not exist)

C:\WINDOWS\vnqeatv.exe

Reboot your computer to go back to normal mode and post a new log.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [7wPf?C??uNDO?S\qEC:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe] C:\WINDOWS\vnqeatv.exe
O16 - DPF: {9E98E84C-79E1-49C3-82EB-798FCD552EFB} - http://advnt01.com/dialer/internazionale_ver4.CAB

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode

Then delete these files or directories (Do not be concerned if they do not exist)

C:\WINDOWS\vnqeatv.exe

Reboot your computer to go back to normal mode.

Hi. Please download and install the program Registry Lite from here:

http://www.resplendence.com/reglite

Once it is installed, please double click on the icon that should now be on your desktop. If an icon is not there, then check under programs portion of the Start Menu.

Once it is opened, copy and paste the below line, into the address field of Registrar Lite.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

And press enter. You will now be presented with new information in the bottom right and left sections and on the right section.

right click on 7wPf?C??uNDO?S\qEC:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe and delete it.

Reboot and post a last log

Done!
BTW: I could not delete "7wPf?C??uNDO?S\qEC:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe" through Reglite (when i clicked "delete" nothing happens), but i did it through Regedit. Hope it's all the same.

Your log is clean! Great job!

Disable and Enable System Restore. - If you are using Windows ME or XP then you should disable and reenable system restore to make sure there are no infected files found in a restore point.

You can find instructions on how to enable and reenable system restore here:

Managing Windows Millenium System Restore

or

Windows XP System Restore Guide

Renable system restore with instructions from tutorial above

Next,

This process will clean out your Temp files and your Temporary Internet Files. Please do both steps:

Step 1:Delete Temp Files
To clean out your temp files, click on Start and then run, and type %temp% and press the ok button.

This should open up the temp directory that your machine uses. Please delete all files that are found there. If you get an error when deleting a file, skip that file and delete all the others. If you had trouble deleting a file, reboot into Safe Mode and follow this step again. You should now be able to delete all the files.

Step 2: Delete Temporary Internet Files
Now I want you to open up Internet Explorer, and click on the Tools menu and then Internet Options. At the General tab, which should be the first tab you are currently on, click on the Delete Files button and put a checkmark in Delete offline content. Then press the OK button. This may take quite a while, so do not be alarmed with how long it takes. When it is done, your Temporary Internet Files will now be deleted.

Finally, and definitely the MOST IMPORTANT step, click on the following tutorial and follow each step listed there:

Simple and easy ways to keep your computer safe and secure on the Internet

Glad I was able to help.
