I've ran Kaspersky, found nothing. Malware bytes came back clean as well. AVG has found nothing, and neither has Spybot S&D. It seems to be running abnormally slow. It also keeps asking for an install disc for roxio easy media creator, which was previously on here, but removed (when the computer became mine). I can't figure out how to get this to quit popping up, because once I close it, it opens again and really slows things down too.

Here's the hijackthis log I just took.

Hello and welcome to BC

Apologize for the delay in response we get overwhelmed at times but we are trying our best to keep up.
If you have since resolved the original problem you were having would appreciate you letting us know If not please perform the following below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

Upon completing the steps below a staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.
  • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
Note: If you are using Windows Vista, right click at RSIT.exe and select 'Run as administrator'.

  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized)
Next
Please do a scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner

Note: If you are using Windows Vista, open your browser by right-clicking on its icon and select 'Run as administrator' to perform this scan.

Click on the Accept button and install any components it needs.
  • The program will install and then begin downloading the latest definition files.
  • After the files have been downloaded on the left side of the page in the Scan section select My Computer
  • This will start the program and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while, so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete, click on View scan report
  • Now, click on the Save Report as button.
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • Copy and paste that information in your next post.
In your next reply please post back with the following reports:
  • RSIT log.txt
  • RSIT info.txt
  • Kaspersky report
Regards

Thank you SNOWHITE for replying to my message. My apolgies for taking so long to get back. This computer is actually my parents, and trying to describe to them how to do the recommended processes over the phone makes one want to scoop his eyes out with a soup spoon. That, and then trying to explain how to copy and paste the logs into an e-mail was an hour long phone conversation...But, I did get the logs. As I've said, I have ran Kaspersky before just a couple of weeks ago(before leaving for school), and it found nothing. I wasn't about to attempt to try to get my mother over the phone to understand how to run it again..So for that, I apologize. This is really the best I could do tonight. Here is the INFO file and the Log file immediately after.

Hello 62tele  Welcome to the BC HijackThis Log and Analysis forum. I will be assisting you from here on out and will need some time to look over your log.

I ask that you refrain from running tools other than those we suggest while we are cleaning up your computer. The reason for this is so we know what is going on with the machine at any time. Some programs can interfere with others and hamper the recovery process.

Thanks,

thewall

While I am looking over the log there is one thing I noticed that would bear looking into.

The following is showing up in the uninstall list from RSIT:

Roxio Easy Media Creator 7-->MsiExec.exe /I{CB4544EA-C189-41FE-9E3A-76591DDB852B}

It's advisable to go into the Add/Remove Programs and see if Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 is still showing up there.
If it will help you with telling your parents how to do it I am going to give you a link that explains in detail the procedure. Even has a video if you could get them to come onto the site. Sometimes I have found these things are better than me trying to use my own words even though I know how to do it. You might even want to send it to them in an E-Mail.

Thank you TheWall

Yes, Last I checked (2 weeks ago) the "roxio" program was not in the "add remove programs" box. I've tried everything to keep it from coming up. When it prompts to install, I hit cancel, and it comes up again..usually about 3 times. It's nowhere to be found..

I noticed you had AVG8 installed on your computer in the first log you posted but it's gone in the second one. The anitvirus you have now is Panda Antivirus Platinum 7 which is showing up as both outdated and disabled. Is there a reason you took off the AVG8? It is important for us to get you some kind of antivirus installed and working.

Do you know what the following is:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Nosign_Dual] C:\WINDOWS\nosign.EXE "Dual Mode Camera"

We need to run ComboFix on this machine. It is highly important that everything be done exactly as the instructions show. I understand you are working with your parents through long distance, but we don't want to leave out any part of the process. If you think this is going to be a problem please let me know.

We will begin with ComboFix.exe. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Please continue as follows:
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

  • Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.
When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please include the following reports for further review, and so we may continue cleansing the system:

C:\ComboFix.txt
New RSIT log.

I do apologize, I have my settings set up to recieve an e-mail when a reply has been posted, but for some reason, did not recieve an e-mail for the last post.
I will send the link to combo fix with instructions to my parents this evening...We'll see how it goes.
Panda should've been uninstalled, but it was still showing up as being installed but disabled and outdated.

I will post the required logs ASAP

THANK YOU!!!

Zach
