Hi Guys,

I have a pretty peculiar and irritating problem. Every evening at approximately 9.00 pm my computer shuts down.
Is that the manifestation of a hardware problem, a software problem, or a virus? How can I tell?
I have scanned my machine with A.V.G as well as Spybot but both programs have indicated that my machine is clean, yet I continue to experience the problem.

Please help.

With Thanks.

Compton

By that time of the evening, how long has your computer been on and how long has this been happening?

Most likely something is running at 9pm that's causing the shutdown. I'd suggest looking at your Event Viewer for problem areas around the time of the shutdowns.

To do this, go to Start - Run - and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
Click on the System log in the left hand pane and then scroll through the information in the right hand pane looking for errors around the time that the system shut down.
Then, do the same for the Application log file.

Let us know what you find and we can move on from there.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
