Posted 10 August 2008 - 12:21 AM

It won't let me into my control panel or my task manager or desktop (among other things). It has attached "Virus Alert" to my clock and other stuff. It constantly tells me that the administrator has disabled whatever it is that I'm trying to access.

I use firefox, but it has really done a whammy on IE and keeps launching it and trying to send me to somewhere to download spyware/virus software. every now and then I get an alert saying I have a trojan horse generic.cMFD -- whatever that is.

Hope you can help. Thanks.

MC

Hello mcartner,

I apologise for the delay, the forum is too busy.

If you still need help, post a HijackThis log as per my instructions below.
----------------------------------------------
Download and Run HijackThis
Download HJTInstall.exe to your Desktop.
  • Doubleclick HJTInstall.exe to install it.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Copy/Paste the log to your next reply please.
Don't use the Analyse This button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
Don't have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
