Sorry for the mis reply on the other board, your patience and help is greatly appreciated.

Problem Description -
1. Random dis connection from the internet. Basically I get the page that says "unable to connect with the network or page."
2. When trying to run server based online games such as Battlefield 2 or Team Fortress 2 the game will randomly act as if I have typed "alt-tab" to get to the desktop, and the same time it makes a clicking sound as if a pop up is coming or if I have clicked on a forward or backward button on internet explorer.

What I have done so far (besides all the things necessary before posting a log)
1. Ran "superanti spyware program" Full system scan
2. Ran "ad-aware" Full system scan
3. Ran "CCleaner"
4. Ran "Clamwin" Full system scan
5. Ran "Spybot Search and Destroy" Full system scan
6. Ran "Spyware Dr" Full system scan

I have ran all these in and out of safe mode.

The only constant result is this...

Trojan.downloader-wnset/n
Trojan.downloader-nnset/n-variant
trojan.csrssc/systemc-a
Trojan.vundo-variant/small-Gen

I have tried to follow the instructions that you provide under the section about "before you post a log" and hopefully we can get on the right track with this problem as soon as possible.

Below is a post of my log generated by the appropriate program as detailed in the before you post a log section.

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

My name is Simon V., and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.

Please download and install CCleaner.

Open CCleaner. On the Windows tab, leave the default options alone.
  • On the Applications tab, check (tick) all the boxes except Saved Form Information. This will remove all your saved passwords if you leave this box checked.
  • Click on the Run Cleaner button at the bottom right hand corner.
  • When the cleaner has completed, click Tools in the Left Pane.
  • Verify that Uninstall is highlighted in color, or click on it.
  • In the lower right, click Save to Text File.
  • Pull down the arrow at the top of the Save dialog and choose Desktop as the location.
  • You can leave the filename as install.txt.
  • Click Save, then exit Ccleaner.

Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running ComboFix -

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says -

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Please continue as follows -
  • Close/Disable all anti-virus and anti-malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
  • Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.
When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please include the following reports for further review, so we may continue cleansing the system -

- the Combofix log (C:\ComboFix.txt)
- a HijackThis log
- the CCleaner Uninstall List (install.txt)

Hi

Step 1

Open Notepad (Go to Start > Run, type Notepad and hit Enter), and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

File::

C:\WINDOWS\system32\btokdabg.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nvpyfcey.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\msqioq.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\RtAJknnn.ini2
C:\WINDOWS\system32\eppyorrh.tmp
C:\d1.exe
C:\p2hhr.bat
C:\-804513903
C:\cuhv.exe
C:\srdyxdh.exe
C:\xxdxsn.exe
C:\beeb.exe
C:\Windows\system32\drivers\msliksurserv.sys

Registry::

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\control\lsa]
"Authentication Packages"=hex(7):6d,73,76,31,5f,30,00,00

Driver::

msliksurserv

Click on File > Save as....

In the File Name box, copy/paste CFScript.txt (Note: Do not change the filename!)

Click Save (Save the CFScript in the same location as Combofix.exe)

Close any open windows.

Close/disable all anti-virus and anti-malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

Posted Image

Referring to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe.
It will create a log. Be sure to save it to a convenient location.

Step 2

Please download JavaRa and unzip it to your desktop.

***Please close any instances of Internet Explorer before continuing!***
  • Double-click on JavaRa.exe to start the program.
  • From the drop-down menu, choose English and click on Select.
  • JavaRa will open; click on Remove Older Versions to remove the older versions of Java installed on your computer.
  • Click Yes when prompted. When JavaRa is done, a notice will appear that a logfile has been produced. Click OK.
  • A logfile will pop up. Please save it to a convenient location.
Then download and install Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 7.

Step 3

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location.
  • You can also access the log by doing the following:
  • Click on the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware icon to launch the program.
  • Click on the Logs tab.
  • Click on the log at the bottom of those listed to highlight it.
  • Click Open.
Step 4

Open Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in Notepad. Save it to a convenient location.
Don't use the AnalyseThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
Don't have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Step 5

In your next reply, please post:
  • the Combofix log (C:\Combofix.txt)
  • the JavaRa log (C:\JavaRa.log)
  • the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware log
  • the HijackThis log
  • a description of how your computer is currently running

I have attached the requested logs.

Also I noticed upon installing one of them the zip file called "catchme" was added to my desk top. Not sure what it is, but it looks ominous. I have not opened it or clicked on it. Let me know about it.

The PC is running better. The ghostly clicking sound has went away and things are running faster. I do notice that there is a slight lag when I open firefox and ie explorer and when I am typing in the search bar of both it lags a bit. But other than that its running 100 percent better than before.

Please note that I will not be able to relpy to you until Saturday evening (GMT +1) as I'm out of town.

Can you please post the Combofix log and not attach it? I still see the old log attached and it's easier to read it when you copy/paste it in your reply, anyway.

Thanks

Hi

Navigate to the following folder using Windows Explorer and delete it when found -

C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_05\

For the rest, your logs looks clean. Please advise of any problems you are still experiencing, or follow these simple steps to keep your computer clean in the future -

Click Start then Run....
  • Type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK. (Note: The space between the x and the /u needs to be there)

    Posted Image

  • This will uninstall Combofix.

You aren't running anti-virus software. Please make sure you download and install one anti-virus program.

Use an Anti-Virus Program - It is very important that your computer has an anti-virus program running on your machine. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future.

Here are a few (free) anti-virus programs, please download and install one of them:
________________

Make your Internet Explorer More Secure - Please read and follow the recommendations at this site - http://surfthenetsafely.com/ieseczone8.htm

Use a Firewall - Without a firewall your computer is susceptible to being hacked and taken over. The Windows firewall isn't sufficient as it only monitors incoming connections.

Here are a few (free) firewalls, please download and install one of them:
Visit Microsoft's Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://update.microsoft.com/ regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.

Install WinPatrol - An excellent startup manager, notifies you if programs are added to startup, allows delayed startup, ... A must have! An installation guide can be found here: http://www.winpatrol.com/download.html

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware - You should scan your computer with the program on a regular basis just as you would with your anti-virus software.

Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will add a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs. A tutorial can be found here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/use-spywareblaster-to-protect-your-computer/

Update All Your Security Programs Regularly - Make sure you update all your security programs (Anti-Virus, Firewall, Anti-Spyware) regularly (once a weak, at least). Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.

You can also read this excellent article by TonyKlein: So how did I get infected in the first place?

Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically.

Thank you again for all that you have done. My PC is running pretty darn good now. The only thing that still seems odd, is that when loading the internet there seems to be a delay in when I type and the letters actually show up in the search bar. I figure on running another scan with one of the malware downloads mentioned, and also re-instating my windows firewall and running clamwin as an anti virus. Would you suggest that instead of clamwin I use one of the above mentioned?

I'm sorry, I completely missed that you had ClamWin installed. It's a good anti-virus program; you don't need to install another one.

I don't know what's wrong with your internet... You could try and ask at another forum here at Bleeping Computer > http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/14/web-browsingemail-and-other-internet-applications/
Those people have more knowledge about these things and will be able to help you better than I can.
