Hello sandman,

Remove one of your Anti Virus programs.
You are operating your computer with multiple Anti Virus programs running in memory at once:

AVG8
Symantec

Anti-virus programs take up an enormous amount of your computer's resources when they are actively scanning your computer. Having two anti-virus programs running at the same time can cause your computer to run very slow, become unstable and even, in rare cases, crash.

Please remove one of them.
----------------------------------------------
If you are removing Symantec because it expired, use Add/Remove programs and remove all Norton and Symantec programs you find there.

Then use this tool to completely remove Symantec.
----------------------------------------------
REMOVE NORTON

ONLY if you don't have an active subscription, use below link to uninstall Norton.

Please click HERE and follow the instructions to download and run the norton removal tool for your own version.
----------------------------------------------
JavaRa

Please download JavaRa and unzip it to your desktop.

***Please close any instances of Internet Explorer before continuing!***
  • Double-click on JavaRa.exe to start the program.
  • From the drop-down menu, choose English and click on Select.
  • JavaRa will open; click on Remove Older Versions to remove the older versions of Java installed on your computer.
  • Click Yes when prompted. When JavaRa is done, a notice will appear that a logfile has been produced. Click OK.
  • A logfile will pop up. Please save it to a convenient location.
Then download and install Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 7 following the instructions below:
  • Go to Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 7 and click on Download button.
  • In Platform box choose Windows.
  • Check the box to Accept License Agreement and click Continue.
  • Click on Windows Offline Installation, click on the link under it which says "jre-6u7-windows-i586-p.exe" and save the downloaded file to your desktop.
  • Install the new version by running the newly-downloaded file with the java icon which will be at your desktop, and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Reboot your computer
----------------------------------------------
Disable Spybot's TeaTimer. This is a two step process.

Spybot S&D's tea timer normally provides real-time protection from spyware, however it may interfere with what we need to do. We will disable it until the machine is clean when it can be re-enabled.

First step:
  • Right-click the Spybot Icon in the System Tray (looks like a blue/white calendar with a padlock symbol)
  • If you have the new version 1.5, Click once on Resident Protection, then Right click the Spybot icon again and make sure Resident Protection is now Unchecked. The Spybot icon in the System tray should now be now colorless.
  • If you have Version 1.4, Click on Exit Spybot S&D Resident
Second step, For Either Version :
  • Open Spybot S&D
  • Click Mode, choose Advanced Mode
  • Go To the bottom of the Vertical Panel on the Left, Click Tools
  • then, also in left panel, click Resident shows a red/white shield.
  • If your firewall raises a question, say OK
  • In the Resident protection status frame, Uncheck the box labeled Resident "Tea-Timer"(Protection of over-all system settings) active
  • OK any prompts.
  • Use File, Exit to terminate Spybot
  • Reboot your machine for the changes to take effect.
Don't forget to re-enable it, when your computer is clean.
----------------------------------------------
Disable Windows Defender until the computer is clean
Windows Defender normally provides real-time protection from spyware, however it may interfere with what we need to do. We will disable it until the machine is clean when it can be re-enabled.
  • Open Windows Defender
  • Select Tools and then General Settings
  • Under Real Time Protection Options uncheck Turn on real-time protection
  • Select Save
Don't forget to re-enable it, when your computer is clean.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Please continue as follows:
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
  • Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

Hello sandman512,

Before we move on let me know if you run Symantec removal tool as per my previous post. I can still see Symantec in your reports.

Also you run JavaRa, did you install the new version of Java?
I can't see the newer version on your pc.

I can still see an older version on your pc, which also excist as plugin on your FF. Please remove the FF plugin for older Java.
----------------------------------------------
P2P PROGRAMS

IMPORTANT I notice there are signs of one or more P2P (Person to Person) File Sharing Programs on your computer.

BitComet
LimeWire
uTorrent

References for the risk of these programs can be found in these links:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/commun...protection.mspx
http://www.techweb.com/wire/160500554
http://www.internetworldstats.com/articles/art053.htm
See Clean/Infected P2P Programs here

Note: Even if you are using a "safe" P2P program, it is only the program that is safe. You will be sharing files from uncertified sources, and these are often infected. The bad guys use P2P filesharing as a major conduit to spread their wares.

My recommendation is you go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the programs listed above (in red).

If you choose not to remove them, please do not use them until this computer is clean.
----------------------------------------------
VIEWPOINT-OPTIONAL

I see that Viewpoint is installed. Viewpoint, Viewpoint Manager, Viewpoint Media Player are Viewpoint components which are installed as a side effect of installing other software, most notably AOL and AOL Instant Messenger (AIM). Viewpoint Manager is responsible for managing and updating Viewpoint Media Player's components. You can disable this using the Viewpoint Manager Control Panel found in the Windows Control Panel menu. By selecting Disable auto-updating for the Viewpoint Manager -- the player will no longer attempt to check for updates. Anything that is installed without your consent is suspect. Read what Viewpoint says and make your own decision.

To provide a satisfying consumer experience and to operate effectively, the Viewpoint Media Player periodically sends information to servers at Viewpoint. Each installation of the Viewpoint Media Player is identifiable to Viewpoint via a Customer Unique Identifier (CUID), an alphanumeric identifier embedded in the Viewpoint Media Player. The Viewpoint Media Player randomly generates the CUID during installation and uses it to indicate a unique installation of the product. A CUID is never connected to a user's name, email address, or other personal contact information. CUIDs are used for the sole purpose of filtering redundant information. Each of these information exchanges occurs anonymously.

Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without user's approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". This may change, read Viewpoint to Plunge Into Adware.
I recommend that you remove the Viewpoint products; however, decide for yourself. To uninstall the the Viewpoint components (Viewpoint, Viewpoint Manager, Viewpoint Media Player):
  • Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  • In Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  • In Add or Remove Programs, highlight >>Viewpoint component<< , click Remove.
  • Do the same for each Viewpoint component.
Please remove Viewpoint plugin from FF if you decide to uninstall Viewpoint.
----------------------------------------------
Let me know the information i need so we will proceed.

No need to quote my posts, just answer or post the reports needed.

I did run the Symantec Removal tool. I will again!
I did follow the JAVA instructions exactly. It looke like it is there.
I will remove the view point programs as per your instructions.
I thought all the P2P programs were removed, I will double check that. NOTE: There are no programs in the Add/Remove programs in ref. to P2P.

Sorry about replying with your quote, some habits are hard to break! Thank again!

Sandman512,

If you wish i can remove completely the P2P programs you can't find. I need you to let me know.

Now there is something weird, and i want you to do what i asked as below:
Remove Java & Viewpoint plugins from FF.
Close your Browser.
Run JavaRa. If new report, post it back.

Remove Viewpoint.

Run Symantec tool again.

Post a new HijackThis log, also let me know if any problems found.

Hello sandman512,

Thanks

You are welcome :)

I would like to remove the PSP stuff.

Ok!

Second, I think I removed Java & Viewpoint plugins from FF.
I also reran the Symantec removal tool.
After running JavaRa, do I have to do anything else?

Yes of course, we are not done yet.
----------------------------------------------
Please do not center anything in your post.
Post reports as they are.

It's hard for me to read them and work on the reports as they are messy.

Let's continue.
Just to let you know that the 2nd time you run JavaRa it removed the latest update, but do not worry.
We'll remove the old remainants now, and i will tell you later on to download it again.

Hello sandman512,

Can I ask you a quick question, could you explain if possible the copying of the notepad and pasting into a notepad and then dragging to combofix?

The notepad contents is the fix i made for your pc.

Please try to help me here, i want the reports posted and not attached, as it's easier for me to work on them.
Do not post attachments unless i ask you too.
No problems if the post is big.
You could post HijackThis in one post and then Combofix in another one.
----------------------------------------------
Now we need to do a search.
Start > Search > For Files and Folders.
Expand Search Options, check Advanced Options, check Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search Subfolders.
Paste this into the Search for files and folders named box:

runwin

If the file is found, post back to me the path please.
Like c:\windows\runwin.dll or how it shows - I bolded the path for example.

Good Morning,
Once again, thanks I don't know how you find the time, but I appreciate it.
I ran the scan for "RUNWIN" I found several files that contain the text RUNWIN, but nothing like you posted above. I was unable to "SAVE" it as text, so I saved it as a JPEG if you should need it.
Here are the report:

Hello sandman512,

Please disable Spybot's TeaTimer and do not enable it untill we are done.
It can inferfere with our fixes.

----------------------------------------------
FIX HIJACKTHIS ENTRIES

chryssi2001,
I did the searches. I apologize, I had trouble understanding how to get those results to you so, I attached them in a picture. There were results under runwin and no results under niwnur. Sorry, for this format. If need be I can redo it.
