Hi LegalDeath187. Can you please post a new log. This one is a mess and it looks like some information is missing. To post a log follow these steps:

We need a complete HijackThis (HJT) log file to be able to analyze what is happening on your computer. Start HijackThis and click the Do a system scan and save a log button to perform a scan and create a log file. When the scan is complete, Notepad will open up with the log file in it. While in Notepad, press Ctrl-A to select all text and then Ctrl-C to copy the text to the clipboard.

POST the log in this thread using the Add Reply button. Click in the data-entry window and press Ctrl-V to paste the log into the window. Add any other comments which you believe might be helpful in our analysis. and click the Add Reply button.

I will review your log when it comes in.

DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL I CHECK THE LOG, AS SOME OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO THE FUNCTION OF YOUR COMPUTER

OT
I do not respond to PM's requesting help. That's what the forums are here for. Please use them so that others may benefit from your questions and the responses you receive.

Hello again LegalDeath187. This log looks better. We have a few things to clean up so please proceed with the followind steps in order.

Step #1
  • Click Start>Run, type services.msc into the Open editbox and click the Ok button.
  • Locate the System Startup Service service and click the Stop button.
  • In the Startup type dropdown select Disabled.
  • Click the Apply button and then the Ok button.
  • Close the Services window
  • Click Start>Run, type cmd into the Open editbox and click the Ok button.
  • Copy/paste the line below into the Command Prompt window:sc delete SvcProc
Step #2

Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [qawhdr] c:\windows\system32\xvxqos.exe
O16 - DPF: {2BC66F54-93A8-11D3-BEB6-00105AA9B6AE} -
O16 - DPF: {30528230-99F7-4BB4-88D8-FA1D4F56A2AB} -
O16 - DPF: {4A3CF76B-EC7A-405D-A67D-8DC6B52AB35B} (QDiagAOLCCUpdateObj Class) -
O16 - DPF: {4C39376E-FA9D-4349-BACC-D305C1750EF3} -
O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} -
O16 - DPF: {644E432F-49D3-41A1-8DD5-E099162EEEC5} -
O16 - DPF: {72770C4F-967D-4517-982B-92D6B9015649} -
O16 - DPF: {75D1F3B2-2A21-11D7-97B9-0010DC2A6243} -
O16 - DPF: {CAFEEFAC-0014-0002-0000-ABCDEFFEDCBA} (Java Plug-in 1.4.2) -
O20 - Winlogon Notify: Installer - C:\WINDOWS\

Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.

Step #3

We need to make sure all hidden files are showing so please:
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
  • Uncheck the Hide file extensions for known types option.
  • Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.
Find the following files/folders and delete them (don't worry if they are already gone):c:\windows\system32\xvxqos.exe
Step #4

Download CleanUp! and install it. Start CleanUp! and click on the CleanUp! button. Let it run to completion. It may take a few minutes depending on the size of your hard drive so be patient.

Step #5

OK. Reboot your computer normally, start HijackThis and perform a new scan. Use the Add Reply button to post your new log file back here along with details of any problems you encountered performing the above steps and I will review it when it comes in.

OT
I do not respond to PM's requesting help. That's what the forums are here for. Please use them so that others may benefit from your questions and the responses you receive.

Hi LegalDeath187. Yeah, that Nail.exe is a fairly new infection and we're trying to figure out a removal process for it. I think it was hidden until we removed that 023 service that did not show a file. That is probably also the reason for your ctrl-alt-del problems. Also, where did that log come from in the 2nd post you made. Interesting info.

Here's what I would like you to do:

Step #1

Start HijackThis and follow these steps:
  • Click on Config button
  • Click on the Misc Tools button
  • Check the checkbox for List minor sections (full)
  • Check the checkbox for List empty sections (complete)
  • Click on the Generate StartupList Log button
  • Click the Yes button to create the list
Minimize the Notepad window because I will need you to copy/paste the information into your next post.

Step #2
  • Download and install Agent Ransack. It is a free search tool.
  • Start Agent Ransack.
  • Put a check in the Expert User checkbox (upper right-hand corner).
  • Copy/paste the line below into the Containing text field:
    • TODO: <File description>
  • Copy/paste the line below into the Look in: field:C:\windows\system32
  • Uncheck the box to Search subfolders.
  • Click the Start search button.
Once it's done go to File>Save Results
  • Select Clipboard.
  • Uncheck File contents.
  • Now click the Save button.
The data will now be on the clipboard.

Step #3

Post back here and include the data from Agent Ransack that is on the clipboard and after that copy/paste all the data from the Notepad document that has the Startup List information.

I will review the information when it comes in.

Cheers.

Hi LegalDeath187. OK, let's try the following.

Step #1

Download the Pocket Killbox.

Unzip the contents of KillBox.zip to a convenient location and then double-click on KillBox.exe to launch the program.

Highlight the lines below and press the Ctrl key and the C key at the same time to copy them to the clipboard:C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
c:\windows\system32\llnfjg.exe
C:\windows\system32\mqornf.exe

Now go to the Killbox application and click on the File menu and then the Paste from Clipboard menu item. In the Full Path of File to Delete box you should see the first file. If you dropdown that box you should see the rest of them. Make sure that they are all there.

Click on the Delete on Reboot option and then click on the red circle with a white 'X' in to to delete the files. Killbox will tell you that all listed files will be deleted on next reboot, click YES. When it asks if you would like to Reboot now, click YES. If you get a "PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by External Process!" message then just restart manually.

You system will reboot now.

Step #2

Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [qdrley] c:\windows\system32\llnfjg.exe

Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.

Step #3

We need to make sure all hidden files are showing so please:
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
  • Uncheck the Hide file extensions for known types option.
  • Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.
Verify that the following filesare gone, and if not delete them (don't worry if they are already gone):C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
c:\windows\system32\llnfjg.exe
C:\windows\system32\mqornf.exe

Step #4

Start CleanUp! and click on the CleanUp! button. Let it run to completion. It may take a few minutes depending on the size of your hard drive so be patient.

Step #5

OK. Reboot your computer normally, start HijackThis and perform a new scan. Use the Add Reply button to post your new log file back here along with details of any problems you encountered performing the above steps and I will review it when it comes in.

Hi LegalDeath187. Please do the following:

Download rkfiles.zip and unzip it to its own permanent folder.

Important! Reboot in SAFE MODE !!

Start in Safe Mode Using the F8 method:
  • Restart the computer in Safe Mode.
  • As soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the Safe Mode menu item.
  • Press the Enter key.
Locate the rkfiles.bat file and double-click it to run it. It will start scanning your computer and could take a little while so be patient. When the DOS window closes, reboot back to normal mode.

Post the contents of C:\log.txt back here along with a new HijackThis log and I will review it when it comes in.
