Greetings,

Below you will find my log. Here is the story of my problem:

I routinely employ Norton Internet Security with religiously maintained updates.
My homepage has been over taken by: "terra.es/personal6/dames5/danger.html".
When on the Internet, the page I am viewing is automated routed to the address listed above and a popup advises me to purchase "AntiSpy".
I ran Aluria, which detected and removed 23 spyware/adware files, but no resolution of my issue.
At the advice of your website, I downloaded and ran both AdAware and SpyBot. They picked up 123 files and I quarantined them. Again, no change to the behavior on my computer.
That brings me to the log below. If you can help, I will be extremely greatful.

Thank you,

Ross

rmagladry,

Welcome to the BC Forums, I will be reviewing your HJT log.
Read through these instructions before proceeding.
Print out these instructions for a reference:

Please download this program:
Killbox

Unzip the folder to your desktop.

Start Killbox.exe

When it is open, enter c:\windows\system32\systr.dll into the field labeled "Full path of file to delete".
  • Select the Delete on reboot option.
  • Then press the button that looks like a red circle with a white X in it.
Your computer will reboot and check to see if the file is gone.

Enable show hidden files and folders:

* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

Now close all browsers and open windows.

Scan with HJT and place a checkmark next to each of these items:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.jimbutt.com/stuffs/
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {C55F612E-1BEC-4D74-87B7-3256BCFB8892} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\kafg.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [msbkup.exe] msbkup.exe

O15 - Trusted Zone: *.musicmatch.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.musicmatch.com (HKLM)

O16 - DPF: {10000000-1000-0000-1000-000000000000} - file://C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\lvlsnsqb.exe
O16 - DPF: {2456741B-1567-7682-A355-939856783603} - ms-its:mhtml:file://c:\default.mht!http://www.jimbutt.com/free/free/free/fr/load.chm::/tibs.exe

Now within HJT click on Fix Checked

Using Windows Explorer find and remove the following folders/files if found.

msbkup.exe

Reboot and post back a new HJT log by using Add Reply

Thanks,
