there doesnt seem to be aproblem, but when i search using spybot it finds the following:-
Alexa Related
Funwebproducts
mywebsearch
myway.mybar
newsupdate
AvenueA.inc

when i try to fix these ive left computer for about 2hrs, but still doesnt seem to fix them, even just trying to fix one it does the same. the computer is very old and needs an upgrade so it might be the computer itself or something on it stopping the fix.
i cant find anything in add/remove programs eather.

Hi madnlooney,

There are a number of steps you need to take in order to clean your machine. Please carry out the steps in the order they are given. You may find it helpful to print these instructions out as you will not have access to the Internet whilst you are running in Safe mode.
Please read through all of the steps first to ensure you understand what I'm asking you to do. If you have any questions, please ask before you start the fixes.
  • You have a LOP infection that often comes together with Messenger Plus. To remove it we will try the simple way first ( thanks to Elrond and shelf life ).

Go into the Control Panel and Then Add/Remove programs and remove any of the following software that is present. Don't reboot your machine if asked, we will do that later..
    • Window Search
      Window Searching
      Lop.com
      LOP SEARCH
      Browser Enhancer
      Ultimate Browser Enhancer
Whilst you are still in Add/Remove programs. Double click on "Messenger Plus!" (or click on Remove)
The "Messenger Plus! - Setup" is now displayed. Click on the Uninstall button. Note: options displayed on the first screen are not related to the sponsor program.

The sponsor screen is now displayed (if you don't see it, search for it in your Task Bar). To prove that someone is currently reading the screen, you have to type the code that is displayed. Once you enter the code, press Uninstall.

If you entered the code properly, the program will ask you to confirm that you want to uninstall. You must answer "Yes" to this question, else, you won't have another chance of uninstalling.

To complete the uninstallation, follow the instructions that are displayed (the first one is to close all your Internet Explorer windows, that's very important).
When everything is complete, restart your computer and, hopefully voila one nasty infection is gone.

  • Restart you machine in Safe Mode:
    • Reboot your computer
    • As the machine starts, continually tap the F8 key
    • You will then be presented with a menu screen
    • Use the the up/down arrow keys to select Safe Mode
    • Press the Enter key to boot in that mode.
  • Run HijackThis
Click on the Scan button and when complete
Put a check beside all of the items listed below O16 - DPF: {1D4DB7D2-6EC9-47A3-BD87-1E41684E07BB} - http://ak.imgfarm.com/images/nocache/funwe...etup1.0.0.6.cab
    O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://software-dl.real.com/22586f08d21b7f...ip/RdxIE601.cab

Close all open Explorer windows and browsers
Click on the Fix Checked button.
When complete and all files removed, close the application.

  • Reboot your machine in normal mode, run HijackThis and post a new log here using the Add Reply button. Please include information on how your machine is running now.

Thank you for the reply.
i could not find any of these to delete in add/remove programs
Window Search
Window Searching
Lop.com
LOP SEARCH
Browser Enhancer
Ultimate Browser Enhancer

i have unistalled messenger plus 3! as you said to do but there was no sponsor part to unistall. i looked in the toolbar part and only found msn tollbar so uninstalled that.

Hello madnlooney,

You log looks clean, well done . I have posted below my suggestions for preventing infection in the future, in which you will find information on Ad-Aware, you should find that running this in combination with Spybot is the best approach to removing malware from your machine. With regard to MessengerPlus3:You can reinstall the software but the sponsored advertising program must be rejected as this is what causes the infections.
Read the installation procedures carefully.
When you get to the Sponsor Agreement, SELECT: I Refuse to give my support, install Messenger Plus! without the sponsor'.
Please take the time to review the list and implement any of the software or settings that you don't have already.
  • Disable and Enable System Restore. - If you are using Windows ME or XP then you should disable and reenable system restore to make sure there are no infected files found in a restore point. You can find instructions on how to enable and reenable system restore here:Renable system restore with instructions from tutorial above.

  • Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:
    • From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
    • Click once on the Security tab
    • Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
    • Click once on the Custom Level button.
      • Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
      • Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
      • Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
      • Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
      • Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
      • Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
      • When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
      • If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
    • Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.
  • Use an AntiVirus Software - It is very important that your computer has an anti-virus software running on your machine. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future.
See this link for a listing of some online & their stand-alone antivirus programs:Virus, Spyware, and Malware Protection and Removal Resources
  • Update your AntiVirus Software - It is imperative that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.

  • Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is susceptible to being hacked and taken over. I am very serious about this and see it happen almost every day with my clients. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly.
For a tutorial on Firewalls and a listing of some available ones see the link below:Understanding and Using Firewalls
  • Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit Windows Update Site regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.

  • Install Spybot - Search and Destroy - Install and download Spybot - Search and Destroy with its TeaTimer option. This will provide realtime spyware & hijacker protection on your computer alongside your virus protection. You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software.
A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:Using Spybot - Search & Destroy to remove Spyware , Malware, and Hijackers
  • Install Ad-Aware - Install and download Ad-Aware. You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software in conjunction with Spybot.
A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:Using Ad-aware to remove Spyware, Malware, & Hijackers from Your Computer
  • Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will added a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs.
A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:Using SpywareBlaster to protect your computer from Spyware and Malware
  • Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.
Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically.
