So this isn't my personal problem but my g/fs and she isn't very computer literate so please use simple terms if possible, lol. Her DVD/CD drive HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8081N is not showing up in her drive area on "my computer" and doesn't recognize CDs or DVDs. She also gets code 31 that pops up when she tries anything. It recognizes when she tries to eject it but has yellow circles w/ an ! inside. Also she is running Windows 2000 on it and it is a IBM thinkpad laptop. Any way to manually install the drivers or could it be caused by something else, if you need a log tell me what type and i'll tell her to download it and i'll post it here. Thanks in advance to any advice.

Thanks, the fix worked for the CD/DVD drive, she's trying to reinstall her Kodak software so it recognizes her camera, if not I may be back.
