I have been having troubles with my free AVG 7.5 and NOD32 is not anymore usable, then I installed Avira. But it seems to me a little strange that it downloaded just 16Mb as first update. Is it normal, in circumstances that all other ones download arround 50? Many thanks.

Hi merellogalasso. The file does seem a liitle small. The current version is listed as 23.9 megabytes at download.com

Free Avira AntiVirus at Download.com

Don't forget only one antivirus at a time, as you mention you have AVG.

You are right: 23 Mb, but it is still too small. Thanks for the advice, but I always uninstall one when installing other. But you do not tell me what do you think about this rather small download. Is it dangerous? I have scanned recently and Avira has found four Trojans. Greetings

That's where I downloaded my copy of Avira and I have had no problems with it.

I think it's rogue, but I am one of the most unknowledgeable people on this site.

Where did you download this software from?

The Avira homepage takes you to the link I provided above. I am very confused.

When did you download it? The file size when I downloaded it on the 11th of June was 21.2 megabytes. Though 16 does seem suspicious.

Unless I missed it I don't see a download of 25.96 mb on the entire page. The free Avira AntiVir Personal is 23.29 mb zipped, and 21.12 mb on it's own.

I still think 16 mb is a bit too small.

I am wondering how you navigated to that page bluesjunior. The link given at this sites free software thread took me to the link I provided also.

I am wondering if Avira has a different manner of maintaing updates, for how is it possible such a difference with all other known antivs., that download arround 50mB? I downloaded the application from the home page and the updates have been until this minute, very small. Surprisingly it found four Trojans (is it a fake?). Greetings.

Yes, the updates are usually pretty small. I did have one recently of about 800kb, which is in the region of the average MBAM update, but that was the only time so far.

Surprisingly it found four Trojans (is it a fake?).

What is it detecting?

I perfectly know that regular updates are of variable sizes but I am talking about the first after installing. Many thanks. NOD and AVG download, when first updating, arround 50 mB. That's the mystery..., and the eventual danger that it could mean...

That's not what I meant but nevermind that.

What was the size of the first update after install?

Have you sorted this out or do you not want to answer?
