Windows-delayed Write Failed

Recently Ive been getting the error "Windows-Delayed Write Failed". It has made my PC considerably slow, and Im unable to access folders in D drive. This drive has been formatted recently...about a month back.

Here are the errors:

I get this error when I try to open a folder in D drive

System:
Windows XP Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 2
Pentium 4 2.66GHz
2.67GHz, 512 MB of RAM

The drive which produces the error is:
QUANTUM FIREBALLP AS40.0
driver date:7/1/2001
Driver version:5.1.2535.0
capacity:37.2 GB
Free space:30.7 GB

Thanks for the reply garmanma

I have checked the article, and unchecked enable write caching of D drive. Ill see if it improves and reply tomorrow

PS:The system has been awfully slow today, but I dont get the error and can access D drive, but after enabling write caching I got the tray warning, and now I cant access D drive folders.
