Not sure if this is the correct place for this.

I need a Usbechi.sys driver to install my USB port, any idea where to get it from?

Thanks, fantasyfreak.

Hi Fantasyfreak.
If you have SP2 installed you should already have it.
It will be at Windows\Driver Cache\i386\sp2.cab.
Let us know.

Thanks for the advice, I've tried to find it but doesn't seem to be there.

Let me explain my situation a little better;

A while back I was having problems with my USB port, someone on this forum told me to delete all references to the USB port and then restart the PC so that it would find 'new' hardware, reinstall and hopefully start working again.
Problem was, I deleted the references, restarted, but then when it was installing it said I need Usbechi and it's not on my system.

I'm not sure what to do or how to get the driver, any more help on it would be most welcome.

Thanks again, Fantasyfreak.

Chances are that there's more then just that file missing then.
What is the make and model of the affected system?

Sorry to sound a little stupid but I don't really know the answer to that, I'm running on XP and the actual PC is pretty old but apart from that I'm not sure of anything else.

Where would I find that info?

Cheers, Fantasyfreak.

The manufacturer of the system would be something like Dell, Gateway, Compaq, etc...there should be a logo printed on the outside of the system indicating such (if it's made by one of those companies or similar ones).

Same for the system model/make.

If it's a home-built system, you can use a tool like the SIW standalone, SIW Download - http://www.gtopala.com/siw-download.html

Download it to your desktop...double-click on it, read the info for Hardware System Info and Hardware Motherboard.

FWIW - previous thread here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/135085/new-usb-port/
It involved uninstalling the device in Device Manager.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
