computer wont shut down on its own

when I select shut down, it goes through all the regular shut down stuff, and then it just stays on "windows is shutting down". I have to manually turn it off at that point.. this just started happening after I used the system restore disks due to some other problems. Thanks for any help.

It might be one of the programs you are running hanging up at shutdown.

Click start, run, then type in msconfig, and look at the programs that are running, removing the check mark one at a time before shutting down until you find the culprit.

I assume you have the typical assortment of anti-spyware tools and have run them starting with AdAware.
