Hi,

I recently tried to uninstall "TuneUp Utilities 2008" but halfway through the install I get the following error message (see web address below for screen shot of error message) and I can't uninstall the program. I have had this problem when trying to uninstall some other programs as well.

I have tried to reinstall windows installer but it said I was using service pack 3 so I had the latest version so I couldn't reinstall it?

Does any one know how I can resolve this?

Try booting into safe mode and try to uninstall the program, see if that works

Hope this helps,
Ttech

You might take a look at Symantec guidance for similar situations: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nip.n...src=bar_sch_nam

I've tried booting into safe mode and tried to uninstall the program but it said that I couldn't use the Microsoft Installer in safe mode to uninstall the program.

Thanks anyway for the suggestion.

That is strange with the windows installer did you download it from here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en

Try reinstalling the program then try removal.

When I try to re-install the Windows Installer it says that the Windows installer installed in newer than the one I'm trying to install, so wont let me install it.

I'm on Service Pack 3 XP and when I go into the Add/Remove Programs page I can't see an option to uninstall my current Windows Installer.

In that case, try using http://wiki.lunarsoft.net/wiki/Dial-a-fix and check the windows installer section.
