I have a Sony CRX216E that has been working fine for our computer for the longest time. Its opening up and the CD icon is flashing with the cursor when the blank cd is put in. Its showing no disk found. I have even tried to reinstall drivers and uninstalling the device and still nothing. Any other suggestions?

Some things you can try:
  • If you recently installed some burning software, uninstall it.
  • Use the fix given on this Microsoft page.
  • Clean the laser using one of those drive cleaning kits.

You can also try replacing the IDE or sata cable and see if the issue was due to a cable problem.

See its able to recognize all regular cd's, dvd's, or anything else. Just these TEVION CD-Rs will not recognize. I have even tried other burning programs.

Yeah it could be the disks. Some drives are picky about the types of disks. Is this problem only occurring when you try to burn a CD?

What about other blank disks (another brand besides Tevion)?
