Go into 'Control Panel' and double-click 'Add or Remove Programs'. Then click 'Add/Remove Windows Components', tick the check box next to 'Internet Explorer' and lastly click the 'Next' button. This should hopefully repair/install Internet Explorer, just click the 'Finish' button once the repair/installation is complete.

Hello senior03,

Maybe the following will work.

Try downloading Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) directly (using your current browser -- Firefox or whatever) and (re)install IE7:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/getitnow.mspx

downloaded it and installed it, or so it would seem, but at the end of the updater i got an error saying

IE 7 couldnt be installed, you have to reboot the system to confirm, that some of the changes of the system can be removed.

also no matter what installer i chose to download it would always end up with a x86 version, is there a way to get a x32 for SP3 and windows xp version?

When you deleted Internet Explorer (IE), what version of IE was it that you deleted? How did you delete IE? When you deleted IE, what Windows Service Pack level (2 or 3) was installed on your system at the time?

You might want to look at the following, which deals with complications that can arise with respect to removing (deleting) and reinstalling IE when SP3 is present:

"IE and Windows XP Service Pack 3":

http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2008/05/0...-and-xpsp3.aspx

Also, I saw that you recently (yesterday/today) had a malware infection that apparently was cured. Could the infection or cure possibly be causing residual problems?

Bought my pc back in 04 and never really updated the IE, i think the version was 5.5 though, never really used it so i just decided to delete it from c > programs, so thats what i did :/

it was service pack 3, dont think any viruses or malwares are acting up cause ive firewall, anti virus and spybot running all the time.

ill check that link later, i have to go now just wanted to answer your questions

I know that you are not using Vista, but I think you need to read the first paragraph in the following Bleeping Computer tutorial. The same concepts apply to Windows XP:

"How to uninstall a program in Windows Vista":

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/uninstall-a-program-in-windows/

You may be able to use the Recycle Bin to restore the files you deleted, but I don't know if that will correct all the problems.

Hi senoir03.
All those "unwritable key" and "registry permission" errors indicate a corrupt user profile.
Use Method C first. If it doesn't work use Method D next described in this article.

also no matter what installer i chose to download it would always end up with a x86 version, is there a way to get a x32 for SP3 and windows xp version?

That is the correct version. You're confusing X86 with x32bit vs. x64bit versions of windows.
You can download IE7 full install for XP SP3 direct from here.

Neither E or D worked, is there any way that the problem could be my comp not being able to use IE7? if so, do any of you guys got a download link for an earlier version?

Thanks for the help
