Hello everyone,

I have problem with line spacing in footnotes (Word office). For some reason, whenever I insert a footnote I never manage to write a compact paragraph; there is always an extra empty space between lines. I thought at first that I've accidentally set the space to 1.5 or 2.0 but it's 1.0. I've also selected the whole footnote area to apply the 1.0 line spacing to it but the problem persists. Does anyone have an idea about what might have caused it?

I appreciate all the advices I can get.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. I am using Microsoft Office XP.

Hi Mesmerized.
See the last two posts in this thread. It's a multistep process.

I still have one more question about footnotes. Is there anyway to keep Word from splitting a footnote?

Until now, I've been doing this manually: when a footnote continues to the next page, I try to rewrite the passage or change the margins to keep the footnote on the same page. However, I am assuming that there must be a way to configure Word to do this automatically but I just don't know how (I've researched the Net for information before posting here).

If anyone has a tip or trick to do it, I really appreciat if he/ she shared it with me. Thanks.

Thanks very much HitSquad . You're right, reading the thread helped me solve the problem.

You're welcome.

Not that I am aware of. Word isn't exactly page layout friendly.
In addition to changing page margins, you can also change footnote margins seperatley.
You can look here and here as well.
